  1. I think they survive only because there is more books to this. And they might just be hallucinating because of hyperthermia, and why were there just be a random sled waiting for them?

    1. having more books for one doesn't mean that they survive

    2. The books are different and that's not in the giver.

    3. I don't think they survive since they are hallucinating and could be dying from hypothermia and hunger that are slowly killing them and it never seems like anything is real. It seems more like a dream as Jonas and Gabriel are about to die.

    4. I disagree because when they're already hallucinating with means they have impaired senses then if they do have hyperthermia then crash they would have probably died from severe chill with hyperthermia, though there is more books it could be based off other characters or their descendants or a whole different storyline so its to early to use the other books as a reference and the sled could have been placed by the giver or he told someone to help Jonas do it.

    7. I disagree because having more books doesn't mean that they didn't die.

  2. I think that Jonas and Gabriel survived because I think that when they heard the echo, it was not heaven or death, I think that it was the Giver releasing himself, and going to his daughter, Rosemary. So at that point all the memories had gone back to the community.

    1. I disagree with this because I think that the Giver would still be helping the community because Jonas is still losing memories and wouldn't be able to release himself.

    2. Bro how does that make a echo?

    3. you might be right but it says "Perhaps it was only a echo." so there is still a chance they didn't survive since we don't know if it was them dying or not

    4. Since Jonas and Gabriel left the community, I don't think that they have a strong bond to the giver and I don't think that the could hear the giver releasing himself. The echo could have been all the memories being transferred back into the community instead. Also the echo does not really imply if he is dying or living but I believe that he is dying from the circumstances Jonas and Gabriel are in.

    5. I disagree and agree, the author makes it obvious that the giver wants to be released to be with his daughter, But I disagree with the echo was the giver, Jonas could've been hallucinating the noise since he was starving, and could die at any point from starvation and Hyperthermia

    6. I think Emma is right because there is no chance the eco is the giver and hes is really cold, so its most likely just a hallucination.

    7. I think that if they were to die Gabe would die first, because babies don't have the same strength as older more evolved bodies. So the fact that Gabe was still alive shows that the memories from both Jonas and the Giver are helping Jonas and Gabe survive.

    8. I disagree because how is that going to make an echo and Jonas and Gabriel didn't have any food and they were already starving so I think they definitely died.

  3. i have mixed feelings but i think he is going to survive because on page 225 when he forced his eyes open he saw color, and where they celebrated love it sounds like a normal community he might be going into

    1. What if that they got poisoned my a plant and there hallucinating.

    2. The memory might be the last memory he and he is hallucinating about being elsewhere so Jonas is trying to cling onto that memory in order to survive but It will leave one day or another. Thats why i believe they don't survive

    3. Without water and food he might be hallucinating. And since he is leaving the community making the memories go away and it's making him weaker. But maybe it could mean that everything is going away from what he used to do in the community. And it's being taken away from him, leaving him with a normal life.

  4. I think they survived and when they started to walk through the light jonas became apart of the memories and maybe if you left the community nothing else was really out there and when you leave you become apart of the memories. I think what supports this is the line"The snow swirled, Blurring his." I think this was him becoming a memory.

    1. I dont think they survive because it said he was hallucinating and i think that he's dying ad losig his mind.

    2. If he was becoming a memorie dosen't that mean that he was dying.

    3. I think they aren't dead but aren't alive because when they became apart of the memories they lived on in the communities/Givers heads as memories.

  5. I think they did survive because it says in the book ¨ perhaps it was only an echo¨. I think in all of this was a dream because it does not sound like they died, they might have just been in a dream and it all wasn´t real

    1. PERHAPS is the key word

    2. Well Mr.Jamal small wall, I DISAGREE! Only because when it says, "Perhaps it was only an echo.", I think that is trying to say, "They're ascending or something like that.

    3. I disagree, I dont think it was all just a dream. It could have been all of the previous memories passing through their heads and when they came back to reality the memories faded off into an echo and they died. If it was all not real then what is the point of the book? That world they were living in had to have been a real thing. Not just a dream.

    4. Perhaps is a strong word in that sentence since it could mean anything could of happened to them

    5. I find this very interesting, however, I have to disagree with your statements. This quote from the book could also support the argument that yes, Jonas and Gabriel DID die. This is because this line about "echoes" could be referring to the fact that the music he hears would be like a mere echo because he has only begun to develop his ability to "hear-beyond". And since he is dying, this music may be something else that he is hearing-beyond, but warped by his mind.

  6. I disagree because I think that he had no food and he wasn't eating so that made him hallucinate. And they might've been close but still I think they died. Because they didn't eat for so long and when they heard the singing they died because Jonas thought it was just an echo and when he heard that he died.

  7. So does he survive or die? You said I think that he will survive and you said I think that the echo was from behind him was a hallucination if he doesn't eat he will die.
