  1. Obviously I think that Jonas and Gabriel survived because I just feel like the book wouldn't end off that way.

But at the end of the book it says he saw people he heard something that had sounded like music but he thought maybe it was just an echo, I think its just going to end off at a happy ending and I feel like they did survive and maybe they are going to live in the other community they possibly saw.

This is why I think Gabriel and Jonas survived.

  2. I think they both survived because if lights shined through windows, that might mean that they might have found a new community. Near then end of the book as well; It said that this was the place where families created memories and where they celebrated love and he could also recognize the lights that he was looking at. So in my opinion, no, he didn't die.

  3. I think Jonas and Gabriel survived. If Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive I feel like the book would end a different way, more upsetting, in a way to lead you to believe that there was no more sign of life. On page 225 the text says, "Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby." If they wouldn't survive I don't think the book would start to talk about the families waiting for Jonas and Gabriel as they were on the sled going down the hill.

  4. I think that Jonas and Gabe survive because in the book it stats: The runners sliced through the snow and the wind whipped at his face as they sped in a straight line through an incision that seemed to lead to the final destination, the place that he had always felt was waiting, the Elsewhere that held their future and their past. So I think that they survived and are living in a nice place full of memories.

Jonas and gabriel survived because he said it the giver that he heard music and I think it was music from the normal world, also he heard people singing I image the the sing is coming for inside the home of the people you Jonas said" they were waiting for him;and that they were waiting, too for the baby. He also said that he saw lights.

  6. I think Jonas and Gabriel survived because at the end of the story, Jonas heard the music, people singing and saw the lights behind the trees which means it's christmas. Jonas had a memory of people celebrating Christmas when the Giver gave him that, so Jonas recognized that memory because of Christmas.. So Jonas and Gabriel might have found a new community.

  7. Jonas and Gabe survive because in the text it states, "suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby. For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing." This proves that they found a new community with people celebrating Christmas.

  8. I think Jonas and Gabriel survive, because they are in another community. The other communities are really colorful, joyful, safe, and the family creates to make love and good memories. So I think the other community can help and make Jonas and Gabriel feel more comfortable there than their own community.

  9. I think that Jonas and Gabriel survived because I learned that you could survive with out food or water for at least 40 days. One reason why I think that Jonas and Gabriel survived because in the book it says red blue yellow lights that twinkled from trees.¨ In this text it says that there were trees that were full of light and there i s one place that have lights on tree and that place is our world. I think that Jonas came to our world because it says in the last sentence in a ¨vast distances of space and time from the place he has left he thought he heard music¨ This text tells us that there were music playing while there were lights on trees and there is one holiday in our present world which is called Christmas. I think that Jonas survived because he made it to our world while we were rejoicing in the music on christmas. So in conclusion I think that Jonas and Gabriel survived

  10. I think Jonas and Gabe survive, because they see the lights. He doesn't see the memories as easy. They don't see the planes any more. He felt relieved once they got there.
