In one paragraph, explain why you think Jonas and Gabriel don’t survive, and include details from the book to support your opinion.
Be sure to:
- explain why you think Jonas and Gabriel don’t survive, and
- include details from the book to support your opinion.
I think Jonas and Gabriel do not survive, and here's why. In the the book at the very end, it says "Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe." This would prove that the wind and speed Jonas and Gabriel are experiencing is fatal, which would most likely kill both of them.
ReplyDeleteI think jonas & Gabriel died because in the book it says "behind him, across vast distances of space and time from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too." The reason I think Jonas and Gabriel died is because where it says the place he had left, he heard music saying that he heard music from the community and that is what he hoped to happen but it maybe didn't and he was hearing the music in his final resting place.
ReplyDeleteIn the book giver I think that Jonas and Gabriel don't survive because chapter 23 on page 225 its says Downward downward faster and faster suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below ahead, they were waiting for him.On the bottom its says from the place he had left,he thought he heard music too.But perhaps it was only an echo.
ReplyDeleteI think they died because the end. They saw lights and music which could be a hallucinating as they slowly die of frostbite and hunger because the paragraph ¨Behind him vast distances or space, and time, from the place he had left,he thought he heard music too¨.which make me think there dying and think of a happy memory before they die.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they survive because Jonas sees the bright red , green and blue lights. He might be hallucinating because of starvation and think he is elsewhere but he actually could be at the bottom of the snowy hill but he sees the lights and hears music. This is why I don't think they will survive.
ReplyDeleteIn the Book called "The Giver", at the end, Jonas and a baby named Gabriel were on a sled, going at full speed. Jonas and Gabriel saw houses with snow, happy families, and singing. All of this to him looked like a paradise. But the truth was, this was all just a hallucination of Jonas's mind. All of this was in his head. He never got to the elsewhere. Jonas was stuck in a place with Gabriel. The only thing that Jonas and Gabriel can do is starve to death.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jonas and Gabriel are dead. In the text it said that Jonas had super bad ankles so that could make him resenst in their town. Also in the text it says that Jonas and gabriel did not have food to eat and if you do not have something to eat for a long time or water you can die. Also they will die by starvation.
ReplyDeleteNeither Jonas or Gabriel survive. This is supported by the fact that both Jonas and Gabriel have not had food or water for a extended period of time. While jonas and Gabriel where on there way to Elsewhere, Jonas does not bring large amounts of food leading to starvation early on. If neither Jonas or Gabe have food for very long they will start to either have hallucinations. Jonas really wants to go to Elsewhere. It's almost the same as if you were in a desert and hallucinate water. It's only because you want it.
ReplyDeleteI predict that Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive. I think this because in the book it said it was really cold and Jonas had to keep Gabe close to help him service. On the page 224 of The Giver it states, "He hugged Gabriel and rubbed him briskly, warming him, to keep him alive. The wind was bitterly cold." On this page it also says, "Jonas felt himself loosing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe." I think that before he died he was having an hallucination of being in the community and having people singing.
ReplyDeleteI think Jonas and Gabriel don't survive because Jonas was saying how he was hugging Gabriel to keep him warm, and how his vision was getting blurry on page 224. it also said how Jonas felt he was losing consciousness. I think Jonas died with Gabriel in his arms but Gabriel survives because Jonas was doing everything he could to keep him warm and from not passing away.
ReplyDeleteI think they died because Jonas says "he knew that this time there would be no ice ,no fall, no pain. that means that you would have to be alive to feel pain, so that means they are died.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jonas and Gabe don't survive because he said that he heard music from behind him. He thought that it might be an echo. Jonas tried to sit up right when he was on the sled. He was already slipping from consciousness. He therefore will probably not survive.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive because one piece of evidence from the book is that " using his final strength and a special knowledge that was deep inside him" (page 224). Another piece of that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive is that Jonas and Gabriel "it was almost impossible to find food" ( page 216). Thats whyI think that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive.
ReplyDeleteI think Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive because on page 224, it states, "Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe." I think this shows how Jonas was slowly started to lose his life. On page 225, it also states, "Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby. For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing. Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo. This last line, "Perhaps it was only an echo," shows me that Jonas didn't survive because maybe it was just hallucination, it wasn't even real, and that the "music" was only an echo, and it was not real. This is why I think Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive.
ReplyDeleteI think Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive because on page 216, it states "it was almost impossible to find food" with evidence I know.I inferred that they were starving and needed food in their system. I also know that you can't survive without food if you don't eat ever on my back round knowledge. Another piece of evidence I have from the book to support they were dead is on page 224 at the bottom of the page it states "an incision seemed to lead to the final destination" with that piece of evidence made me infer that the final of destination is being released or dying. My last piece of information is on page 225 (the ending) "he thought he heard music. But perhaps it was only an echo. What made me infer are there angels did they die. This is why
ReplyDeleteI think Gabriel and Jonas didn't survived.
I think Jonas and Gabriel do not survive because on page 225 it says, ¨Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo.¨ This shows us that the music he was hearing was only his hallucinations turning echos into music (which he had never heard before).
