  1. Jonas and gabe did not survive because they were very cold and the book says ¨inside his freezing body¨ so i think he froze to death.

  2. I don't think that Jonas and Gabriel are going to survive because it says "For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing." This quote makes me think that they are not going to survive because it is going to be hard to adapt to the changes that they are going to make. For example because of the fact they are used to the sameness they are going to be confused when sameness is not something that is wanted in the place that they are going.

  3. They don't survive because in the text it says "he forced his eyes open as they went downward" this shows how he was forcing himself to still be awakened. Another reason they don't survive is because Jonas was hugging Gabe, so Gabe could stay alive. In the text it says "He hugged Gabriel and rubbed him briskly, warming him, to keep him alive. The snow swirled, blurring his vision" This shows how Jonas was trying to help Gabe stay alive during the bad winter.

  4. I think that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive because they were having hullations by seeing different colored lights and hearing people singing and also hearing an echo from the vast and Jonas thinking it was somebody else singing. also he was seeing memories of different things but by saving the giver

  5. I think Jonas and Gabe did not survive because in the text it states that "Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe." I think this evidence means that Jonas was so tired, so hungry, he was longing to go back but he didn't. He made sure Gabriel was safe before making sure he was safe. This shows why I think Jonas and Gabe did not survive.

  6. i think that they died because it says that in the last sentence in the book it says maybe it was just a memory like that he might have been in a coma and he died and was hallucinating and playing back memories until he died.

  7. I think Jonas and Gabriel did not survive because in the last paragraph on page 224 it says "Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe." this means that Jonas was going to die but tried not to die. Then Jonas started to see a memory as they got to the bottom.

  8. I think Jonas and Gabriel didn't survive because it says he saw vast distance and time. On the last page (Chapter 23) last page it says "Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the places he had left, he had thought he had heard music too." I think this means that he saw his life and places he has been. And I think the music was death almost from when he had that memory.

  9. I think Jonas and Gabriel did not survive because it says in the book that to keep him alive. But Joan's went down the hill with numbly hands. Maybe they did not survive when they went down the big hill. And jona using his final strength and his knowledge

  10. I think that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive because they are seeing a house in the middle of nowhere with people in it and a sled, who put those there when it says there were no communities around. I think that died and are now trapped in Jonas's thoughts.

  12. I think that Jonas and Gabriel did not survive due to the fact that at the end of the book it says that ¨... he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo.¨ Which shows that they could have possibly crashed into something as they were riding down the hill. It also seems that he was hallucinating due to him somehow seeing the lights and the doors clearly from the hill he was riding down. ¨He forced his eyes open as they went downward, downward, sliding, and all at once he could see lights, and he recognized them now.¨ and as you continue that paragraph you can see that families created and kept memories.

  13. in the text it says " He heard people singing. Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left,he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo." I think they died because I think he was hallucinating the lights and singing like he was about to die and thought all of that and then he and Gabe died after that.

  14. I think Jonas and Gabriel do not survive. On page 224 it states, Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe. This is showing that he lost consciousness in a place the does not exist. And right above that paragraph it states, He knew that this time there would be no ice, no fall, no pain. This is showing that he is dreaming about this joyfully place. This means he is unconussions showing that he died.
