i think joans and gabriel survived but he is hallucinating and as time goes on he starts going crazy so he might die soon and on page 225 he said ¨he forced his eyes open as they went downwards¨.Now i think that they both will end up dying very soon.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Jonas and Gabriel survive. This is because on page 225 it says "He forced his eyes to open as they went downward..." It shows how Jonas was trying to survive by forcing his eyes the open. It also says how he sees colors and that shows him hallucinating. Trying to stay alive he calmly lays on the sled. I think they both end up dying to the cold harsh winter.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jonas and Gabe don't survive. Having never felt starvation before, or really any real pain at all, The chances of him surviving this is low. Especially because he has to care for a whole other human child. At the end of chapter 23, it states that he heard Music, and felt that the people that live in the houses around him were waiting for him and Gabe. As if they know that they would come to meet them. It also states that it took all his physical and mental strength to stay upward and conscious. That sensation could be a last feeble attempt for his brain to cycle through memories to try to find out how to help him survive. As the memories of the community fade, all he has left is the memories from the Giver. The memories of warmth and family, and love. He gave most of his other positive memories up to Gabe. That sensation could also be hallucinations, again caused from starvation and bad physical health. All these signs point to them not surviving. If anyone survived, It would be Gabe, not Jonas.
ReplyDeleteJonas and Gabriel don't survive. They wouldn't have. He said in the book that he felt certainty and joy. I said he saw the memory of the family huddled around the Christmas tree. It said that people were waiting, singing. When you die seven minute memories will appear, you feel calm and happy. Those are all things that happened to Jonas and maybe Gabriel. In short, they wouldn't survive. At least not what it seems from what it says or how it's written.
ReplyDeleteAfter Jonas thought they made it he heard people singing, but he realized it was probably only an echo. Maybe Jonas was about to die or pass out and his ears were ringing. After Jonas heard the music like echo, he and Gabriel probably went unconscious. In the book it says "Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo." Maybe based on that, Jonas was getting dizzy and everything was blurred together.
