  1. My lai massacre was an awful war, and it shouldn’t have happened. Women, men and evan children were murdered. My lai wasn't a Viet cong sympathizer, but was judged to be one because they were in South Vietnam. The lesson here is to never judge a book by its cover.

  2. The Battle of the Somme, 1916, has a grand lesson to be learned. It was a terrible loss for the British and French Soldiers against the Germans during World War One ending with almost one million losses which could have been avoided. General Sir Douglas was in charge of these combined forces and ordered them into no man's land daily thinking the enemy forces were weak and crushable. Sadly he underestimated their numbers and strength which led to millions of losses. This tragic battle shows us to never underestimate something and always prepare for the worst. You can never know what the problem will look like "over the top."

  3. A lesson that I think can be learned from my topic, the American Revolution, is that if one person/group does something, the other will respond equally as harshly, and big arguments can start.
The British, after the French and Indian war, were in debt and taxed the American colonies with the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, and the 4 townshend acts. Then, a small British army in Boston was threatened by mob harassment from the colonists, and in turn killed 5 colonists in response. This was known as the Boston Massacre.
A group of colonists, in response, briefly disguised themselves as Mohawk people and dumped around 10000 Euros ($10,523) of tea into the ocean. The British, again in response, passed 4 Acts known as the Intolerable Acts. Things got worse and worse, and soon after came the American Revolution, where the Americans fought the British in a successful attempt of independence from Britain.
This is how great disputes can start, from one action to a war. And this is how people can start big arguments with each other, shown by the Americans and the British.

  5. The Parkland School shooting claimed the lives of 17 people, this number could've been reduced if proper protocol was executed by the staff. On the other hand that number could've been increased if it weren't for the actions of people who were just like you and me. Scot Peterson, former deputy, failed to call the code red after seeing the shooter on his way into the school, then he told officers to "stay at least 500 feet away at this point." Those officers didn't enter the building for 11 minutes after the shooting was ended, what could've happened if those officers did enter the building sooner? What could've happened if that code red was called sooner? We will never know, but what we do know is Aaron Feis, the school football coach who saved lives that day. He charged at the shooter instead of running away; shielding students from the gunshots and unfortunately dying in the process, he will forever be a hero. You can use this story to improve yourself in your own life. Don't be afraid to call out danger and don't be afraid to help people who are in danger. Of course you don't have to charge at bullets like Aaron Feis but helping a friend in need is just as good.

The Great Depression was a horrible time for the USA. The Wall Street market crash was a huge drop. It dropped by 90%! People were losing everything, money, their houses, jobs, businesses, and everything else. President Hoover was not really helpful during this time. He more laid back and watched it other then help. He also wasn't very prepared for it. But, when President Roosevelt came in he was prepared for what was coming as a president. He passed 15 major laws in his "first hundred days!" This shows that if anything happens like this in the future, we should be prepared for something big that could happen just like the Great Depression. We should really be prepared now because of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine and Russia effecting out economy.

Not long after this happened the crew started to load the passengers into the lifeboat while also sending out distress signals. The carpathia had received this distress but was over three hours away from where the titanic was at the moment. They realized that they had only 27 passengers on a single lifeboat when they could fit 65 adult men.The crew was afraid that the lifeboats could not handle the weight. But During this entire time people were panicking so much trying to save them and their families .but I believe that if they did the safety drill the day before the people and crew would know what to do and freak out. i also think that if they had filled the boats up to the limit more people would have survived. If they did not panic things would be a whole lot different.

  14. Harold Shipman was a diligent and noble doctor through the perception of his patients- before they were murdered. Harold Shipman is the most notorious serial killer in modern history, with his schemes lasting from 1975 to 1998. Harold Shipman is without a doubt the most sinister kind of serial killer for many reasons. One reason is that Harold Shipman hid himself in the shadows, as people didn’t suspect him as a serial killer as they were distraught from his conventional life. He had four children and was married, and worked as a doctor almost all of his life. Another reason is that he killed the most vulnerable targets, with the age range 41- 93. He had also used scheming ways to kill people, as he administered drugs, such as Morphine into his patients. He and his foul acts remind us that darkness can lurk in the safest of places.

Many went to start a brand new life. 885 workers on the deck working on the most luxurious boat in the World. No one would expect the boat would be underwater within four days, with 705 remaining passengers alive. At 8:46AM a Boeing 767 aircraft hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center at roughly 466 mph. This plane was carrying around 10,000 gallons of jet fluid, which demolished floors 88 through 99. So many lives had been taken that day. People donated money, gave blood, flew flags and were truly proud of our great country. 2. Jayde I believe that Hurricane Katrina is a fantastic topic! A conflict that would work well with Hurricane Katrina is from the point of view from someone who is attempting to help the people that suffered from the Hurricane.

    5. Jayde, I feel like your main character would be very engaging if it was a child, and if your character should have an independent and determined mindset.

    6. Maybe your character is someone who is trying to escape the hurricane themself, but also needing to help other people in danger, like family, friends or strangers. They could be helpful and caring and that's why they would be willing to help, instead of just focusing on surviving by themself.

  23. Looking at the salem witch trials we can learn that suspicion can make do crazy things. The prayer test was a test to tell if someone was a witch or not; the person had to recite the lord's prayer without error, but when a suspected witch recited the prayer perfectly it was thought to be the devil's trick, and they were hung anyway. The witches mark was an imperfection on someone's skin. It could be a freckle, a wart, a mole, or even a scar, and if you tried to cut or burn the marks off; the cuts and burns were also considered witches marks.

The German’s occupied france and were transporting resources and troops to help with fighting Russia, and the Allies landed in Normandy, France and took back most of France, liberating it, and pushing the Germans back. They then went on to win the war, going from france to belgium, and finally took berlin. D-day is considered the turning point of the war in the allies favor. The first person on D-day to die in combat that was known is a German gaurding the Pegasus bridge.

The lesson you can learn from the battle of verdun; helps show that you should be happy with the living standards, and conditions of life; because there can be much worse.
