  2. I think Christopher Columbus should be remembered as a Criminal. I think he is a criminal b/c he did not find America in fact Leif Eriksson did. Christopher Captured and used Native Americans as slaves because he thought they would make good servants.ANother reason is b/c he was a rapist and murderer. ONe more reason is b/c he had a contract with the spanish.

  3. I think Christopher Columbus was a criminal because the native Americans were living on that land before Columbus even found america. He killed most of the native Americans and left many to starve then STOLE that land like a CRIMINAL. At first he traded goods with them, then they started saying no to trades and he took everything that he wanted and killed anybody in his path. That is why I think Christopher Columbus is a criminal not a hero.

  4. Christopher Columbus is a criminal because as a student we are told by teachers that he is the first man to set foot in America. Well, Christopher Columbus and my teachers are wrong. This is because Christopher Columbus discovered the Caribbean Islands not the Americas. Also, Leif Erickson was the first person that set foot on the continental North America. It said that in google.

  6. I think Christopher Columbus is a criminal for his horrible acts against Native Americans. Columbus Killed, fought, and enslaved to get his way. Even after the Native Americans treated him with such kindness and respect. They even fed him and offered him to stay. In return, he killed a quarter of the of the Native Americans and enslaved the rest just to conquer the wrong place.

  7. Do you think Christopher Columbus is a hero?I think he is a criminal not even a murderer because he killed people after he had feast with them just take the land I think that that is so wrong gin so many different ways he doesn't deserve to have a day he didn't discover the land or buy it or trade for it he stole it from other people and I think that he is a villan because of this and the people who got killed didn't even know what was gonna happen to them that morning after the feast he should of been imprisoned for stealing land murder and lie because after he killed everybody he called his friends and family and the president and told them he found new land but he tricked them and lied and the worst part they all believed him. This is why I think Christopher Columbus is a criminal.

  8. I disagree with you because christopher columbus was trespassing o the land of the native people, so he was a villain.

  9. He might have discovered the Americas, sure, but he harmed innocent humans that were the real founders of where we stand today.

  10. I disagree with your opinion that Columbus was a hero. I think Columbus was a criminal. I think this because Columbus took the Natives to work for him, and he took their resources and land, and he took the credit of finding America when it was the Native Americans.

  11. Can you really call someone that stole peoples land a hero? Oh wait he enslaved them all too that makes it "better".

  12. I disagree while he may have made trips across sea he also pushed natives off their land. He also killed some and forced the to give some of their goods. And he wasn't even the original founder of america, that was Leif Ericson. So he was definetly no hero.

  13. I disagree. I don't think he discovered the Americas, Native Americans were already there before him. He also enslaved them upon arrival, Then claimed it as his discovery.

  14. He is a hero because he helped us find the Americas.

  16. I believe that Christopher Columbus is a hero because he discovered america and he took up so much of his time and sail across the ocean.

  17. i disagree with this because Christopher Colombus was not actually the one to discover america and he treated the native americans unfairly in nearly every way possible

  18. while i can understand where you are coming from, he also did a lot of wrong to other groups of people. he may have been a hero to his homelands people, but he did far more harm than good to the natives

  19. adityaA,
I do agree with you for the most part, but you have to also look at how he treated the natives. You may think that he's a hero because he discovered America, allowing Europe to expand and conquer and get richer, but the way we got there was wrong and shameful. We tortured and enslaved the natives to work under our control and we took apart their land.

  20. I humbly disagree with your notion. I believe that Christopher Columbus was a terrible criminal. He never discovered America because the Norse discovered the Americas decades before he ever set foot on the shores of America. Not to mention when Christopher Columbus "Discovered" America, he brutally slaughtered the natives already on the land because the natives had no spices and gold.

  21. i strongly disagree with your reasoning, Christopher Columbus may have found the Americas but in doing so he made many natives suffer

  22. I disagree because he wasn't even the first person to find the Americas. The vikings or Native Americans were the actual first to discover the Americas. Also, he was very cruel to those Native to the Americas so I believe he was a criminal.

  24. I disagree. The reason he made these trips was so he could kidnap the Native Americans and bring them to America as specimens. He also thought that he found an easier way to Asia, Amerigo Vespucci was actually the first person to realize that we had actually discovered new land, not Asia.

  25. I still feel that he is a criminal. He did, in fact, make 4 trips across the Atlantic Ocean to try to find a way to Asia. But he never found it. That right off the bat makes him much less than a hero. In fact, no one found a better way to cross to Asia, until the Panama Canal was made. He enslaved the "Indians" for no reason other than making money from them. So, think about it again. Hero, or criminal?

  26. I don't agree because while he did that, he also ruined many lives, he upset many people and tore people's lives apart. He tore apart homes as well as families.

  27. i think he is a criminal because he ruined the lives of many people and brought many dieases

  28. I disagree because Christopher Columbus may have found land but he also killed and enslaved the native people of the islands

  29. I disagree, he is a criminal. He took the natives land and resources! Yes, he did take many trip across the sea and "found" the Americas for us, he also pushed natives off their land, took their resources, and even killed some. He also claims to have been the first to find the Americas, which he wasn't that was Leif Ericson.

  30. In my opinion, Christopher Colombus was not a hero, but a thief. It is a common misconception that Colombus found America. And he would take Natives under 14 find enough gold to satisfy him, and also stole spices.

  31. I disagree with your opinion, Christoper might've done a few bad things and wasn't actually the first person to discover America but he did claim America for Europe, which was a good thing.

  32. I disagree with that statement. I believe that he is a criminal. He stole from the Native Americans. He may have traded with the Native Americans, but based on all the knowledge that the main land had. Do you really think the trades were fair?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I disagree with this. This is because Columbus trespassed on the Native Americans land. He captured and enslaved them on their own land.

  34. I disagree, Christoper Coloumbus may have discovered the americas but he did not do it in a respectful way he slaughterd native americans when they were trying to be peaceful.

  35. Over people discovered America before Christopher Columbus did

  36. I disagree with the little 7th grader. Making 4 long trips that take weeks doesn't make you a hero when you intentions and actions are wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I disagree with that statement. i think that Christopher Columbus is a criminal because he trespassed on native Americans land.

  38. I disagree, Christopher Columbus is no perfect person, but neither are the rest of us. He completed 4 voyages and claimed America

    ReplyDelete
  39. I understand where you are coming from. But I personally think he's a criminal. If he had done more things to be a hero than yes he had made mistakes. But he made a lot of mistakes that makes him a criminal.

  40. He is truly a villain - Christopher Columbus started so many horrible things. He discovered America - sure, but it was already inhabited by Native Americans, which he enslaved and even kidnapped. He made America visible to the rest of the world, and because of that he made the Native American's life and existence tortured and full of death.
