Al Capone was a vicious gangster during the roaring 20s¨ who was mostly known for the St Valentine's day massacre where his gang killed 7 members of a rival gang dressed up as cops with tommy guns. However beneath the bloodshed of Al Capone is a man who shows true compassion towards others. Al was making millions of dollars with his bootlegging operation during prohibition, and while most of this money went to Al´s luxurious lifestyle he did spend some of it to give back to the community. Al started a soup kitchen during the great depression with some of his money in order to feed the thousands of people on the street. With Al's soup kitchen the staff served to anyone who walked in. It didn't matter wealth, religion , gender or skin Al's soup kitchen would serve them all with Al Capone himself going there from time to time so people could shake hands with him and meet the notorious gangster. The lesson to be learned is that no matter how bad a person is in life there will always be some good inside of them. With Al Capone although he was a killer and a gangster he still had empathy for others during the great depression showing how we all have good in us no matter what we do in life.

DeleteThe bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was August 6th, 1945. The bomb that has been made by the” Manhattan Project” was a B-29 bomb. The Manhattan Project was formed in 1939 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Both B-29 bombs had over 15,000 tons of TNT. Hiroshima’s population was 1.1 million people from the beginning of WWI-1945 while Nagasaki’s population was 407,000 people. The first atomic bomb was a test run near a desert in Alamogordo on July 26th, 1945. The plane that dropped the 2 B-29 bombs was an Enola gay. The temperatures went from 57.7 F down to over 4,000 C. A lesson that can be learned from this historical event is, don’t mess with the U.S. when someone attacks first.

For example, by 1930 4.3 million people were unemployed, which is just one year into the Great Depression. Just three years later, 13 million people were unemployed, in that short of time. Within those four years, the unemployment rate went up 20%. So, one thing we can learn from the Great Depression and the Stock Market Crash of 1929 is that enormous events can happen at the flick of a finger and unexpectedly. We have to move swiftly when we seek clues that may be hinting at something powerful and destructive to our economy, and with these clues make a plan to help avoid turmoil.

DeleteThere was a severe attack on September 11th, 2001. Two planes crashed into the twin towers. The first plane, a Boeing 747 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel hit the North Tower at 8:46 am. A 2nd Boeing 747 crashed into the south tower at 9:03 am. The attack was deadly, nearly 3,000 people died during the attack. The towers were really strong, they could hold up to 150 mph winds, were made up of 200,000 pieces of steel, and were 1,360ft tall. The attack took years of planning and was perfectly executed. There were 19 hijackers; they were all in the U.S. at the time, registered in their full real names. They all got past airport security. A lesson from this is we should upgrade our airport security, and make sure this never happens again

While in hiding, Anne had this diary she got from her birthday June 12 1929, she wrote about events that had happened throughout hiding and she wrote for about 2 years. It was around the time where Hitler started to gain more power to take over the jews. From all Hitler had done, there should have been more equality to prevent the situation or the jews population dropping by 6 million caused by the Nazi’s.

The renaissance period was a rediscovery of classical philosophy, literature and art. One of the most powerful countries during the renaissance period was England. One of the most impactful rulers of England during the renaissance period was Queen Elizabeth I. She took to the throne of the death of her half sister, Mary I. Throughout her reign she had many struggles from her past and with her family, but she still didn’t let it affect her reign. She was a very determined and smart queen for the time she was living in. DeleteApollo 11 is known as the most famous rocket that ever went to space, but it didn't just take one try for it to make it to the moon. There were 14 different Apollo missions before the 11. They had to use their confidence and persevere through building it even though the others failed. They had to keep their heads up and also keep the two missions that killed people in mind and the missions that almost made it in mind. The engineers persevered through the failure and the successful tries. The aerospace engineers persevered through those 195 hours it took to make Apollo 11, and the astronauts had to keep their confidence knowing that if the rocket failed they could die. There were many lessons carried from the Apollo 11 flight but perseverance is a big one. Everyone who even saw the rocket needed to be confident and persevere through the experience.

DeleteThe holocaust was a devastating time period that occured over 12 years, from 1933-1945 where Adolf hitler convinced most of the Germans in Germany to believe that Jewish people were inferior to them and did not deserve to live. During the 2nd world war, the one Hitler started. Germany was on the “axis” side of the war along with Japan, and Italy The gestapo; a group of “detectives” hitler used to find out where all of the jewish people were and send them to concentration camps. Concentration camps were where the gestapo sent jewish people to work, or die. During the holocaust More than 7 million jewish people died.

DeletePearl Harbor was a horrible and horrific time. It was December 7th 1941 when a loud bomb went off. People thought it was just navy practice. President Franklin D Roosevelt was in office at this time and took the situation very seriously. The Japanese bombed pearl harbor at 7:30 am, Sunday morning. They did this because that's when the US navy took time off work. I think a huge lesson that can be learned is that; think before you act. And I say this because Japan killed/bombed more than 2400 Americans; and they wrecked almost every single one of our ships so we couldn’t fight back. Only 6 US aircraft carriers were able to not get destroyed and fight back. The Japanese knew we were a powerful force, and tried to make our force weaker so they could destroy the US more easily. So please; think before you act.

DeleteDepending on the slang of the time, you could make the main character say an exclamation such as "Golly, what is that?!" in the beginning. You could make them a loud character and easy to anger ('hotheaded'). On top of this, when they show emotion, it would be an interesting idea for them to exaggerate their emotion. For example, instead of, "He's gone..." you could make the character say, "He's gone?!" to exaggerate emotion. To narrate their appearance, you can write, "He pushed his hand through his combed brown hair."

DeleteThe Titanic was a heart wrenching event. The accident did not need to have 2,000 people die. If the workers loaded the maximum capacity on each lifeboat many more lives could have been saved. Instead of one ship that had the capacity of 65 they loaded 28. They were being unprepared, The workers were all living in fantasy. Saying “The unsinkable ship.” Philip Franklin says. Well Philph Franklin turns out every boat can sink genius. Really everyone should have been more worried about the lifeboat situation. Lesson learned here is to be prepared for anything. When odds are low, think ahead. Being prepared is a life skill to have. You should always have a plan B.

Since then they invaded six more countries, such as both Denmark and Norway in April of 1940, Belgium and France in May 1940, and Yugoslavia and Greece in April of 1941 in three years because Germany thought that Germans were racially superior to the Jewish. Adolf Hitler was the most dangerous Nazi that joined because he was denied into art school. Nazi Germany killed 16,315,000 over the course of their existence, most of them being Jewish because Germany thought that Germans were racially superior to the Jewish. When Nazi Germany surrendered in May 6 1945 because of Adolf Hitler’s suicide in April 30 1945. The lesson is that you should be aware of your power, for you may overestimate yourself.

The people who wanted a strong government were called federalists while the people who wanted more power to go to the states are called anti-federalist. So both the anti-federalist and the federalist could agree on who gets the power. James Madison (The person who recommended the bill of rights) thought of the bill of rights. The bill of rights had 12 amendments but two of the amendments did not get ratified. As you may know in the present day United States there are 27 amendments. The bill of rights was added to the constitution because the anti-federalist didn’t want a strong government and if the anti-federalist and the federalist didn't come to an agreement another war could happen. No one wanted another war, They already fought hard for their freedom and it was not an easy war. No one wanted to repeat what happened again between the british.

DeleteThe Great Depression was a time period in which lives across The United States struggled to survive. When the stock market crashed in the U.S, millions of people went into poverty and people were barely making enough to remain alive. When the stock market was stable people moved to the cities, so when the stock market crashed they had nowhere to grow food. People were so desperate for money that they sold their cars and sometimes their houses to pay for rent or food. Often times people would hold onto their possessions tightly from the fear of needing at some point. People never thought of the stock market crashing, so they didn’t prepare. Although this was a dreadful time for the U.S economy, millions learned that you should be cautious as unexpected things happen hastily and you should always be prepared for anything that might happen.

Germany knew that the soviet union would try to stop them so they made the German-soviet Nonaggression pact that led to Poland being split between Germany, and the soviet union. Some people thought the plague was a punishment from god so they used to have a ceremony where they would whip themselves, but that only spread the plague more. The people in the 1300s tried all sorts of ways to get rid of this plague such as Bathing with vinegar and rose water, Drink the pus from the lanced buboes, Grind up emeralds and drink it in wine and Quarantine for 40 days. People were so scared everybody tried to move away and run from the plague but it just spread the disease more, kinda reminds me of a pandemic we had. Being impulsive in a time of crisis can cause major issue, you might feel frightened but being calm and think rationally will lead you in the right direction
I think a good main conflict that the man character will experience is the disease that's going around. The character will have to face challenges during the plague that's going on at the time.

Delete9/11, also known as the most dangerous terrorist attack on american soil, here is the story of 9/11. It was september 11th 2001, a nice tuesday morning when 4 planes took off, 2 from Boston, 1 from D.C, and another from Newark. the 4 planes were then overridden by 19 men affiliated with Al Qeada. Then they redirected 2 of the planes to the Twin Towers in downtown Manhattan. Flight 11 was one of the planes to slam into the towers along with Flight 175 as well. All lives on Flight ´s and 175 were lost while due to heroic passengers Flight 93 was redirected into a field in Shanksville PA, but sadly all lives were lost, as well as Flight 77 hitting the Pentagon in Arlington Virginia. At 10:28 AM EST the north tower fell, hitting the Manhattan streets, As well as the south tower falling at 9:58 AM EST. A lesson we can learn from this is that some airports ( if not all) should have proper security checks applied to every person.

Delete9/11 will always be remembered so many people lost family members, friends and first responders.There were 4 planes that were hijacked by islamic people they were all heading to important places in the U.S. only three of the four planes made it to their destination . The hijackers smuggled in box cutters and knives through security so what if we had the same security measures as today as 2001 would 9-11 still happen . But after 9-11 they updated their security measures so it wouldn't happen again . So something I think that could have been learned is that security measures need to be better than what they had .

When they talk, they can always sound calm, without using many exclamations. Their appearance could be represented using partially hidden messages like, "He combed carefully through his blonde hair," or, "She casually brushed her long strands of blonde hair."
DeleteOn August 24th 79 a tragic incident happened in Pompeii, Italy. In Pompeii there is a Volcano named Mnt. Vesuvius. Near there a whole civilization was built, until it wasn't. That August afternoon it erupted. Thousands of buildings and people were buried by the thick ash of the erupted volcano. With the falling buildings and rocks citizens used anything soft to protect their heads from death. Later on though when the volcanic lava hit there was nothing more they could do. A life lesson that you could learn from an event in history is to be aware of your surroundings. If the people of Pompeii never built near the volcano, this wouldn’t have happened.

DeleteYou wake up on a gloomy Monday morning in March, And wonder why there is no school? You run to your mom. And she says there is no school! That was me 3 years ago when covid first started. It was fun until it wasn't. I was bored every week stuck at home. The first case of covid 19 was detected in Wuhan, China in late December 2019 after that it spread fast. At the time no one knew what it was yet. When we finally got back to school in 2021 it was bad too. You had to wear a mask 24/7 and if you had one of these symptoms (ex: Loss of smell or taste,Cough,Headaches,Vomiting,Fever and chills,Runny nose etc..) you would be sent home for a week or more…
ReplyDeleteIf you had covid you would have to take a covid test and quarantine for 5 days. If you tested positive then I had to do 5 more days. In 2022 we finally could stop wearing masks and we thought it was over forever but it wasn't. You still had to quarantine but only for 5 days not 2 weeks late 2022 they made something called the covid shot. In May 2023(now) they said they will stop providing covid tests. I've lived through all of that, and those were the worst 3 years of my life but I persevered through all of it!
