In one paragraph, you will summarize the historical time period or event that you have researched so far.
In your paragraph, be sure to include:
- at least two specific details from your notes to help you summarize the historical time period or event,
- a lesson that you think can be learned from the historical time period or event and applied to the future, one that is supported by the two details you include, and
- proper spelling, punctuation and grammar.
In the 1980s, the cannibal serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer caused panic in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over five years, he killed 17 men and he had sex with them before dismantling them. He kept some of the bodies as trophies of his killstreaks. A lesson that can be learned is don't trust strangers from the streets. If you do, you might be killed or be dead in a freezer.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict of your story could be the unknown killer harming the safety of the city.
DeleteI think the main conflict should be a deranged man on the loose and a fight for survival.
Deletethe main conflict could be someone trusting him enough to go to Jefferys house to then be killed.
DeleteI think the possible main conflict of your story could be the serial killer on the hunt for the civilians.
DeleteThe main character should be somebody running away from the serial killer.
DeleteFor appearance in narrations, you could describe how Dahmer looked while committing murder or getting around to eating them. For example, "He had a crazed look in his eyes as he was plunging the knife in and out of the man's body..." or "As he was cooking the limbs of a man, he had to clean his foggy glasses..."
Deleteyou could say how the main character feels like if he is scared or lonely and you could have some conversations that the main character had with Jeffery before the main conflict comes, like if the main character is friendly with Jeffrey or if the main character is hesitant to go to Jefferys house.
DeleteI think a character in your story could be a very angry person, who gets provoked very easily. They could also be very cautious and skeptical of everything.
DeleteOsama bin laden is a walking nightmare here is why. Osama Bin Laden masterminded the 11 September attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people and led President George W Bush to invade Afghanistan and launch the War on Terror. He became the subject of a decade-long international manhunt during which the FBI offered a $25 million bounty on him.
ReplyDeleteI think a possible main conflict could be the manhunt for finding Osama Bin Laden.
DeleteA conflict for your story could be that 3000 people were killed because of obama ben laden.
Deletethere maybe a person teaming up with him and they are a very bad person that kills people and teams up with osama bin ladin and kills many people threw there actions the author cam show them murdering people in that present time

DeleteBetrayal is something that should never ever be committed no matter the reason, and the Battle of Berlin represents this idea perfectly. One reason why the Battle of Berlin represents this idea is because the consequences for the Germans after betraying the soviets had been dire. During the battle of Berlin the Germans had lost ninety to one hundred thousand soldiers followed by another two hundred thousand injured soldiers. The city of Berlin had also been reduced to ruins, with 80% of the city being destroyed by the fighting. The Germans had also suffered the loss of twenty two thousand civilians. But the worst part for the Germans was that Berlin had been captured by the soviets, and Nazi Germany’s reign was over. The Battle of Berlin is a great example of why betraying someone can have dire consequences for you, and may be able to change your life in a way that you probably wouldn’t prefer.
ReplyDeleteOne main conflict could be the affect of betraying them after the battle.
DeleteThe Germans betrayed the Soviets which led to the fall of Nazis.
DeleteI think the main conflict is the Germans betraying the Soviets
DeleteMaybe your character can be a Soviet solider and he can be apart of the war.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deleteyour character could be a civilian and one of the survivors in Berlin
DeleteYour character could be a Soviet soldier that was betrayed by the Germans
DeleteYou could have your main character be a nazi soldier during the battle. They could act scared or brave.
DeleteI picked the topic 9/11. A lesson that you take from this historic event is that don´t always aspec the best. In September, 11 people were just going through normal everyday things. Like at 8:45 there would be about 17,500 people already in the building. Also the people that were on the planes were just expecting a normal plane ride. Like on flight eleven they were just 8:19am. That flight attendant had alluded to people on the ground telling them that hajakers had taken over. That is why a good lesson for 9/11 is not to always expect the best.
ReplyDeleteOne main conflict I think you could use is, moving on from the people in his or her life that they lost.
DeleteYour main character could be described as having matted dusty hair, he/she was in the building.
DeleteThe event that I picked is the bombing of Hiroshima. One detail from that is that the US. is that it caused much protesting against using atomic weapons. Another detail is that when the rear gunner on the plane that dropped it witnessed the explosion, he described it as "looking into Hell itself." My final detail is that after the bombing, many questions were asked on if we know how to kill everyone, then how could we make more allies. My lesson is that it can be easy to kill off your enemies, but much harder to make friends with them.
ReplyDeleteI think a possible main conflict could be surviving the bombing and trying to become allies with the enemies so they can live.
DeleteI think a "main conflict" based on your lesson could be a kid (when the US and Japan want to ally) not wanting to make friends, and then learning from the US and Japan allying together, and finally making friends.
DeleteFor the main character, you could include their emotions and behavior of the character, like if they cried after the bombing and how they were scarred and never acted out after.
DeleteThe kid could be introverted and maybe accidentally blurts out stuff that makes him "enemies".
DeleteYou never know what can happen next. You should always be ready for the unexpected. On September 11th, 2001, two planes hit the Twin Towers. There were five hijackers on the plane that hit the south tower. At 8:13 A.M five people got up and went to the cockpit. The hijackers took over the plane and killed two stewardesses because they began to intervene with the hijacking. The two stewardesses got stabbed with small knives. The other three men went to the cockpit and killed the pilot so the hijackers had full control of the plane. One of the hijackers trained himself to fly a plane so he turned the plane sharply to the south and headed straight for the south tower. You never know what can happen next so always be ready for the unexpected.
ReplyDeleteI think the main conflict should be about 9/11 and the planes causing destruction by hitting all of the buildings.
DeleteI think the main conflict is the terrorists hijacking the plans.
DeleteI think that one of your characters should either be someone in the twin towers that survives, or someone on the plane that takes down the terrorists.
DeleteThe main character should be a firefighter rescuing everybody from the damage.
DeleteThe great molasses flood of 1919 was a tragic but not well known disaster. In January of 1919 the enormous 50 foot tall and 90 foot wide tank of molasses burst open with a sound that was heard all around Boston. With the wave being over 50 feet tall and traveling 35 miles per hour, it destroyed everything in its path. Inevitably there was 21 people killed 2 of which being kids, and over 150 people injured severely. The tank weighed 13,000 tons, and had 2,319,525 gallons of molasses. The cause of this tragedy was because the 18th amendment had recently been approved. Because of this alcohol had become illegal. So the USIA (United States Industrial Alcohol) was in a rush to make rum. Because of this they quickly made the tank and it ended up exploding because of their careless construction. A lesson to learn from this event is instead of rushing, take your time.
ReplyDeleteOne main conflict could be the damage it caused in the city.
DeleteThe main conflict of your is what the 18th amendment caused and what it did around the world.
DeleteOne of your main characters can be the person that made the molasses and put in the tank and it exploded.
DeleteYour main character could be a someone who saw the tank explode.
DeleteVlad the Impaler was a 15th century monster. During the dark ages Vlad lll was born to Vlad ll as the prince of Wallachia or what is now known as Romania. He was Bram Stoker's inspiration for dracula the vampire. The reason was because when Vlad wanted to take back Wallachia from the boyars, who killed his father and brother, he invited all 200 of them to dinner, and had them impaled one by one so each could see their death coming. This cruelty earned him a name in europe, Vlad Tepes which means Vlad the Impaler. The boyars trusted him even though they killed his father and brother because they thought Vlad had forgotten, but he still remembered and he got his revenge. The lesson you can learn is that you can never trust your enemies.
ReplyDeleteVlad got revenge by killing his families killers, even though they trusted him.
DeleteOne main conflict you could use is Vlad's grievance over losing his father.
DeleteOne possible conflict could be people shouldn't trust untrustful people that do wrong things.
DeleteA possible character you can have is apart of the family he murdered, and you can even make them survive at the end just because.
Deleteyou could have your main character described as having a more salty or angry attitude.
DeleteAn idea for the behavior for Vlad III could be haughty.
DeleteThe Bombing of Dresden was a disaster in World War II that crushed the beautiful city of Dresden, which was known as the 7th largest city in Germany. Dresden had 600,000 inhabitants and a refugee center that was supposed to be 100% safe. People thought that Dresden would be secure. They thought Dresden wouldn’t be hit by the bombs that had been attacking other smaller cities around Germany. But on February 13, 1945 at 10:15 PM, planes from the Red Army (Soviet Union) flew over Dresden. Bombs dropped like rain. They weren’t regular bombs, but were firebombs that created fire when they exploded. The entire city was burning. The Church of Our Lady crumpled after standing for only a year. People’s shoes burned. Citizens rushed to the hospital with burned eyes, only to find that the hospital itself was shattered. What once was a peaceful city had turned into ruins in the blink of an eye. With this history in mind, people should always remember that nowhere is safe when there is war. People should not assume to be protected. Although there is not much war today, other problems still catch us off guard.
ReplyDeleteI think a possible main conflict is when the planes from the Red Army fly over and drop firebombs, leaving the city burning.
Deletethe main conflict could be someone in the city of Dresden who was a nurse that worked at the hospital, she had to help the people who were rushing to the hospital and she had to find a cure for their burning eyes.
DeleteI think a possible main conflict could be surviving the fire bombs and not trusting anybody afterwards.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteYou could show their behavior before and after the bombing, like if before they were happy and carefree, and in the end they were distrustful and wary about everything.
DeleteWhen the planes from the Red Army drop the firebombs, you could have your main character experience distress and terror by screaming, but staying still because of their state of shock.
DeleteSeptember 11th 2001, one of the most terrifying days in United States history. You never knew if your plane would be going to where it was supposed to, or if you would ever see your family again. On that day there was no way you could possibly be too careful. The NYC chief of police knew this and sent around 1,000 officers to the twin towers. However even with this mass amount of help and lots of other first responders a whopping 2,996 people died including the 19 suicide murderers. There is a very important lesson anyone could learn from this tragic day. That lesson is that you can never be too careful; if the people checking bags had been more careful the hijackers never would have made it onto the planes with their knives. Thousands of lives could have been saved. So much pain, suffering, and grief could have been prevented. So always know that you can never be too careful.
ReplyDeletea tragic day where 2,996 people were killed including 19 suicide members because of the hijackers
DeleteSometimes people are easily provoked. Though it really depends who you're provoking and how long you do it. But some people just provoke people too much. Out of nowhere the South Vietnamese attacked an aircraft carrier owned by the North Vietnamese with torpedo boats. This caused many issues for the South because they would now have to deal with an entire war. This war lasted for 14 years and eventually ended in the South Vietnamese' demise. In the crossfire it caused over 3 million casualties from across the entire war. And America also sided with the South to possibly get land/money but it ended in a stalemate because nobody won anything. Lesson learned, don't provoke people for doing something that is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict could be the Vietnam War and someone in the jungles of Vietnam.
DeleteThe main conflict could be someone in the U.S. retaliating against what they did.
DeleteI think a main conflict for your story could be the Vietnam War
DeleteA possible character could be a soldier that is paranoid in the jungles, and dealing with PTSD after the war
DeleteI think a character in your story could be very serious and neat. At the same time, your character could be very emotional when it comes to someone he loves.
DeleteA possible character could be someone with troma surviving from the war.
DeleteThe attack on pearl harbor happened on December 7, 1941. Japan went to Hawaii, pearl harbor and battled, it lasted about one hour and 15 minutes. Japan's plan was just to destroy the US so the United States would work things out and have peace with each other. 2,403 American soldiers died and 129 Japanese soldiers died. A lesson you can learn is when you disagree with others the are some consequences.
ReplyDeleteA possible conflict could be you trying to live and cope after the attack.
DeleteI think the main conflict is Japan bombing Pearl Harbor
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteA possible concept of your Historical Fiction essay could be a story from the perspective of a Japanese or American soldier. You could include parts from the battle in flashbacks or time jumps to show the struggles that the soldier faces during and after the battle.
DeleteThe aftershock of losing a family member to the attack.
DeleteYour story is about the boston tea party and maybe she is a woman that wants to be apart of the tea party but cant cause she's a woman
DeleteI think that it would be good if you showed the characters emotions clearly to show your readers what they are/had to endure.
DeleteHe was numb with shock and that night cried himself to sleep.
DeleteThe story could be about a soldier who loses some of his soldier friends in the battle. You could show the reactions he has, the emotions he feels, and how he navigates them during and after the battle to help bring the character to life.
DeleteYour character could be someone that survived the attack and how lived after the attack
DeleteThe average colonist—girl, boy, man, or woman—drank about three-hundred cups of tea annually, which totaled to Americans drinking one million pounds of tea in the 1760s. So as you can imagine, the colonists didn’t like having their tea taxed by the British. After the French and Indian War, the British were in debt. They desperately needed money. So they taxed the colonies. Parliament passed the Townshend Acts in 1767, which taxed things like glass, lead, paint, and tea. Taxes on these products were later repealed in 1770 because of colonial protests. That is, all but the tax on tea. In 1773, Parliament passed the Tea Act, which helped the financially troubled British East India Company. This did not go down well in the colonies. The citizens of Boston, Massachusetts met at the Old South Meeting House on a cold, rainy Thursday, December 16th, 1773. They discussed paying the tax of tea for three British ships. It eventually came down to about fifty men armed with axes, some dressing as Mohawk Indians, creeping down to Griffin’s Wharf. They broke and dumped three hundred and forty chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British reacted to this protest by passing the Intolerable Acts. Along with other things, this closed the Boston Harbor until the tea price was paid. I think that this example from history teaches a lesson about teamwork. The British Parliament had power, as they passed the Tea Act, and the Intolerable Acts. But, the colonists also had power. Their power was in numbers. Together, they protested Parliament's taxes. To make their beliefs come true, they had to all join together and use their strengths.
ReplyDeleteOne conflict you could add might include how some characters in your story might be trying to join the tea party but are having a hard time trying to sneak the tea or how their emotions affect them and the situation.
DeleteA possible conflict for this story could be Colonists working together and maybe you would be able to swap back and forth between someone from the British Government dealing with this, and then maybe someone protesting and what they are going through. :)
DeleteAn idea for a main character could be a Man or a Teenage boy, who works in a factory that makes tea, and describe how they aren't making nearly as much money anymore due to the tea being dumped. Some emotions for this could be frustration because they can't make enough for their familles, or determination to try and help stop the tea acts.
Deletemaybe your main character could be a woman that wants to join the Boston tea party but she cant cause she is a woman
DeleteYou could possibly add in a character that is encouraging the idea of establishing the boston tea party but this character could be let down because many others say this fight is more for men.
DeleteThe Challenger disaster occurred on January 28, 1986. The NASA Challenger space shuttle launch was supposed to be an exciting new development in the field of space because for the first time, a teacher was going to go into space. Her name was Christa McAuliffe. She taught high school social studies, and she was also a mother of two children. On the day of the launch, even Christa McAuliffe’s students tuned in to watch. The crew was made up of seven members. Christa McAuliffe, Judith Resnik, Francis Scobee, Michael Smith, Ellison Onizuka, Ronald McNair, and Gregory Jarvis. After the launch was postponed for several days, the crew boarded the shuttle and prepared for launch. The shuttle launched into the sky, but unfortunately, disaster struck. At approximately 11:39 AM on January 28, 1986, the Challenger space shuttle exploded, killing all seven crew members that were on board. The cause of the explosion was two O-rings losing resiliency due to the cold. The day will be remembered as a day of disaster. The lesson that can be learned from this tragedy is always double check your work.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict of your story could be the emotions and challenges of the people who lost loved ones.
Deletehow the space ship exploded
Deleteyou shed have more of a back story
DeleteFor the look and sound of emotions, you could describe how families reacted to the news that their loved ones had died in the explosion. For example, "When I told her the news her face twisted with despair and she dropped her glass cup, causing the shatter to fill the silenced room..."
DeleteIndependence can be shown in different ways, including people. For example, flappers. Flappers were a group of independent women. They were a cultural phenomenon in the 1920’s. They were known for their energetic freedom. Flappers were also known for their short hair, short skirts, and bold attitudes. They participated in activities that were considered scandalous at the time. Such as drinking in public, partying, and smoking. They rejected the idea that they should care about society’s morals about how women should dress and act. In this mindset, they threw their corsets away and wore knee length dresses. You would often find flappers in bars looking for places to dance, drink, and smoke. They frequently went to jazz clubs and speakeasies. People mostly thought of this at the time as, “outrageous, immoral, and downright dangerous.” Flappers sadly ended in 1949 when the stock market crashed. Their independence helped society push barriers for American women.

DeleteIn 2001 on September 11th 19 terrorists boarded four planes heading to California. Two of the planes hijacked by the terrorists turned off course and were headed toward the Twin Towers. At 8:45 am the first plane hit the North Tower, and just 18 minutes later the South Tower was hit by the second plane. The third plane hit The Pentagon, a military headquarters in D.C. The final plane hit a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania. All evil has consequences and sometimes these consequences can affect thousands of people.
ReplyDeleteA possible conflict for your story could be the people that hijacked the plane.
DeleteAn idea for the behavior could be sorrowful.
DeleteThe hardest time for Indians that I feel is the time period 1700-1900 ,British taking over india. I feel like a good lesson that we can learn from that time period is that people will do anything for money. Which is a bad thing. A detail to support my lesson is that the British came over to trade for spices and only for that. Another detail to support my lesson is that India has 23% of the economy of the world that time. When the British heard about that they came over to try taking money. This is why I feel like people will do anything for money.
ReplyDeleteI think that the main conflict is the British taking over India.
DeleteThis is a very intriguing topic, one main conflict you could include might be how some of your characters in you story could be losing a bunch of money; or how some people in your story could be going out to fight while in danger of the British.
DeleteI think one of your characters should be a British soldier and how he feels about taking over India.
DeleteFor this topic you might want to include different types of characters, meaning a brave character, a more introverted character etc.. If you want a brave more outgoing character you could have them always talk about their thoughts and that they have less emotion. If you choose to include an introverted character you could should have them explain their thoughts but mostly emotion. I think it would be interesting to have both. Like an opposite friendship situation.
Deletein febuary 1918 this sickness called the spanish flu came along i killed 20-40 million people. there was a first second, and third wave. 200,000 americans are hospitalized for flu-related also the second wave was more deadly than the first wave it was more contagous to kids than adults. when they first found out about it they would call it three day fever, the reason this was a sickness because people thought to be caused by bacterium
ReplyDeleteI think the main conflict is someone is in the hospital fighting for there life with the spanish flu.
DeleteThe main conflict is that people will lose a lot of family and friends, which will drive everyone crazy watching their friends die.
DeleteIt could be some child that everyone in the village fell ill but themselves.
DeleteOne of your main characters can be is the person is in the hospital trying to stay alive from the Spanish flu.
DeleteIt’s better to be safe than sorry. The Boeing 737 crash in March 2019 is an example of taking something for granted, and not double checking that everything is right. It was the second Boeing crash in five months. Both planes went down because of a design flaw which included MCAS malfunctioning. MCAS are Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation Systems. The flaw made the plane’s nose point down far enough that the pilots couldn’t pull it back up. After the crashes, an investigation revealed that Boeing did not include the MCAS training in the pilot manuels. Because the Boeing company had always been super successful, they didn’t bother double checking the systems even when a test simulation said they could be defective. It never hurts to double check, because after all, it is better to be safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteA possible conflict can be living from the crash and having to cope with the trauma of it.
DeleteI think that the main conflict is how they didn't double check the design of the planes, because that set off the whole thing.
DeleteAn idea for a conflict could be a two way perspective (Switching back and forth). For example, you could go from one of my passengers and the experience during the plane malfunctioning and their emotions, to an family member worrying and being over sick about their family member on the plane. Hope this helps!
DeleteI think you should try to really show the behavior of your character.
DeleteI think you could focus on the behavior of a worker who made the bomb, and when the crash happened, the character broke down and had hatred burning in them because of the malfunction.
DeleteThis story could talk about a Pilot dealing with the malfunction of the plane, and you could describe the fear they have to tell the passengers about it. You could show this as the character noticing the planes acts and talk about them maybe trying every button to fix it to keep the passengers safe, but it doesn't help.

ReplyDeleteOn september 11 2001 19 militants connected with the islamic extremist group, Al qaeda hijacked 4 planes and also carried out suicide attacks ageinst targets in the united states. 2 planes were flown and crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in NewYork City, The third plane hit the pentagon in Arlington, Virginia just outside of Washington D.C and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, PA. Almost 3,000 people were tragically killed during 9/11, Which triggered major U.S initiatives to combat terrorism. The impact left a gaping, bruing hole near the 80th floor of the huge skyscraper instantly killing hundreds of innocent people and trapping hundreds of more in higher floor levels. The world is pretty crazy but we must not let the terrorists win
A possible main conflict could be different depending on which perspective you are doing; you could have someone trapped in the tower trying to escape. you could also have a conflict as the war in Afghanistan.
DeleteA possible character could be a member of SEAL Team 6 tracking down Osama Bin Laden who holds a lot of animosity toward him.
DeleteTrying to defend against the overwehlming force of the other side.
ReplyDeleteA possible main conflict of the story could be from the point of view of a soldier fighting in the war and struggling to feed his family during it.
ReplyDeleteA possible main character idea could be a Biafra man who fights in the war and has conversations with other soldiers to show how he acts as a person.
ReplyDeleteEvery day fell into routine. Get up, eat, fight, eat, sleep. Every day pushing myself beond the limit.
ReplyDeleteThe Jewish were horrbly tortured during the houlicost. And they had troubles even befor that. Cristians even blamed them for the crucifixation of jesus christ. But inspite of all this, the Jews Kept going. They never gave up. Rm
ReplyDeleteFrom Soccer Guru:
ReplyDelete"We want freedom!" Have you ever heard that statement before? It was America's Morale for gaining independence. One Such example was the Nigerian Civil War. This war consisted of Nigeria and Biafra both in the same territory, but Biafra was determined to gain independence. Nigeria is a tropical area and has about over 17 million people, and that population includes Biafra. Nigeria has a territory of 356,669 square miles.
A Biafra's succession from the Nigerians sparked rift that would last for 3 years. The War continued until Nigeria continuously got more and more support from the Americans and The British. Not to Mention all the deaths that occurred from this war. 2 Million Biafrans were killed because of starvation. This teaches a lesson in freedom and love of the other nation. While wars can be described as necessary. It is never pleasant. We as a people, not just Nigeria, but the whole world. They should avoid any kind of conflict. Rather, we should promote freedom and love.
As people went along their daily lives in Hiroshima, little did they know that they would be decimated by an atomic bomb. After the bombing of Hiroshima, many people were shocked at the destruction it caused, and some even protested against weaponizing nuclear power. Another thing is that since the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the choice of using the atomic bomb was a source of controversy for a long time. My central idea is that while life is short, we shouldn't make it even shorter or more painful.
