“Listen to me, Jonas.  They can’t help it.  They know nothing.”

“You said that to me once before.”

“I said it because it’s true.  It’s the way they live.  It’s the life that was created for them.”

What public issue from our society do you wish people would wake up and understand the way that you do?    In one paragraph:

  • explain your stand,

  • provide specific detail from only one online source where you found evidence to support your stand, and

  • copy and paste the url of your source(s) at the end of your paragraph.

  1. Did you know that if you use a drug that could boost your playing ability, you will only be suspended for a few games; if you're second, you'll only be suspended for 10 games. The Nfl changed the rules of the usage of a performance-enhancing drug also known as peds. If a player is caught using peds they are suspended for a few games as if this is the second time. The player is to be suspended for 10 games. This is unfair to every other player because they are fully natural while other players are using peds. If a player is caught using peds I think they should be kicked off a team.

  2. School hasn't changed in over 180 years. That is almost two centuries ago. This means we are getting almost the exact same education our great-grandparents got! "The biggest problem I see with our current age-based system is that it stands in contrast to what we know to be true about children and their development," said Mary Beth, an assistant professor at a Texas college. On top of that, the reading and writing level of the average adult in the United States is 7th grade. We have not given the adequate resources and money to our schools and in return almost nothing has changed. Kids are not even staying in school. A recent study showed one out of five kids will drop out of Texas schools. Think of anything from 180 years ago and it will most likely look different today. So why does school not look different?

  3. Today's day a lot of people smoke cigarettes and vape but they don't think about what is in them. Or even try to see what is in them so they can see how bad it is for them. What they don't know is that there is over 3,000 chemicals in tobacco and they are mainly inhaling them. And there getting Nic-Sick from all of those chemicals. An assistant professor at John Hopkins school stated "Nicotine poisoning occurs when nicotine begins to exhibit more dire toxic effects on an individual."And that is what is mainly happening to people who smoke and vape. But vaping is almost worse then cigarettes because one Juul pod is equal to a whole pack of cigarettes. But there's a lot of nicotine in cigarettes too because there is one milligram of nicotine per cigarette. People should start being smarter and not putting all of that nicotine in there lungs because it is one of the worst things for them.

  4. Youth alcohol intake has become a problem. In total, 8.8 percent of alcohol consumed is by 12-17 year olds (underage drinking). There is many terrible causes from it. It can result in Failing grades, absences, many legal issues, mental illnesses, and impaired judgement. Even worse, there's a high risk of adapting alcohol use disorder as you get older. This is a problem. I know you may think 'If they know it's bad, then why don't they just stop?' Well, youth will try it for fun, get a laugh out of it then become severely addicted. An addiction is something you can't or think you can't live without. And for youth who becomes addicted, they think can't live without it. It's more seen in girls but is definitely seen in guys. The least alcohol usage state is Utah where 6.6% of alcohol consummation is from youth. The most usage state is Montana which 11.8% of alcohol consummation is youth. That is a lot and way more than it should be. Every year 3,900 die under 21 from alcohol. This is a problem and it needs to be heard many young kids die from this and no one is talking about it.

  5. Have you heard at some point in your life that you shouldn't play video games because they are bad for you and they lead to violence? Well, that might not be true. According to data from a recent study of about 2000 kids, contrary to popular belief, playing video games did not correlate directly to violence and depression. Actually, on the contrary, it seems that video games have positive effects on the brain. One of these positive effects on the brain is better attention and memory. According to the same study, kids who played video games had higher activity in areas of the brain associated with memory and attention. But not only is memory and attention improved with playing video games, no. Kids in this study who played video games actually did better on cognitive, or perception-based skill tests than those who did not play video games. On top of this, kids who played video games also showed less brain activity in visual areas of the brain when taking these cognitive assessments. This could mean that the visual areas of the brain become more efficient when one plays video games. This also may allow more resources to be directed to the attention and memory-based areas of the brain, which could be why those kids who played video games did better on cognitive tests.

  6. Does 265 dollars sound like a lot? Well, thats the average price of visiting a doctor in America.
KFF.org says that many americans struggle to afford healthcare costs; taking a huge sum of money from their wallet. And the 8.6% that cant afford the staggering prices just ´´miss out´´ on the required care.
Additionally, nearly 47% of Americans struggle to pay healthcare prices.
Insurance does cover costs, but not fully; still leaving a smaller, but still large sum of money to pay off.

This is why healthcare prices must be changed

  7. Did you know that people who play strategy games have better problem solving? As weird as it seems, it's true. Most parents and other people look over video games as mindless entertainment for your brain to rot to but really, it's the opposite. Kids who are in school and play strategy games tend to have better grades. Video games also help with social skills. That may seem weird to some people. And thats because most people think the average gamer stereotype is a shy person that doesn't, "Touch grass" (Go outside) as they say. Video games also increase the amount of gray matter you have (Gray matter is the outside layer of the brain. It helps control of movement, memory, and emotions). Video games can also help with dexterity (Dexterity is movement in the hands). So really, people need to realize that video games aren't that bad.

  8. Ps5 is much better than the next generation Xbox. Ps5 has more and better accessories, from the built in mic to the Psvr2. Ps5 has a dual-sense controller unlike Xbox. A dual-sense controller is a controller that reacts to the objective in game by making the player use more force to push in the triggers, such as smashing a tree down like in God of War Ragnorak. The controller settings give the player more options for how powerful the vibration is. The dual-sense controller also comes with a built in mic that has decent quality, better than some headsets. Like any Ps4 and Ps5 controllers, they have built in touchpads that you can use in games with in-game websites such as Gta V. The touch pad also has a function in games where you must swipe on the touch pad or even click on one side of it. "New Xbox games being available on PC and older consoles makes the Series X feel less important" the Author Kevin Webb says.

  9. Does 11 missed calls in one baseball game seem like a lot to you? Major League Baseball has to find better umpires to call baseball games. Some of these games make millions of people day, week, month maybe their year. If you let 1 bad call take that away from someone is that right? I say the MLB should pay umps more money. If players get paid 30 million a year umps can get a little raise right. If you pay umps more they may like there job and officait better. The review monitors need to be much bigger. A 15-20in monitor doesn't allow umps to see the ball very well. A monitor should be a solid 28-30 in big. I think a available strike or ball call could be useful in big moments in a game. These challenges would be limited a game. These changes could be sent down to double A or triple A just to see how it improves game play. Some of these few changes to umping could make a big offense impact on the game.

  10. Global warming has been affecting the earth for years now. Each decade, year, and even month it is getting worse and worse. In the last forty years, the temperature has risen 0.18 degrees per decade. What causes global warming is CO² and other air pollutants absorb energy from the sun, making the earth heat up. Global warming has many negative effects on the earth. Some of these effects are more harmful and some are less harmful, but they all matter. Scientists have so many different views on this topic. One scientist that discussed the effects said, ¨ We must limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2040 if we are to avoid a future in which everyday life around the world is marked by its worst, most devastating effects: the extreme droughts, wildfires, floods, tropical storms, and other disasters that we refer to collectively as climate change. ″ One inevitable stance is that global warming isn´t getting better. Anyone can help end or slow down global warming. There just needs to be an effort made. One thing you can help is by reducing your carbon footprint. One way to do that is when buying appliances look for the EnergyStar label. EnergyStar has a higher standard of saving energy than the government's minimum requirement. Even you can make a difference.

  11. Have you ever wondered how society can benefit from your help? Some important skills that everyone needs are life skills. When high schoolers graduate, most do not graduate with the benefit of knowing how to properly do simple life skills. These simple life skills include paying taxes, paying a mortgage on a house, paying back student loans, and saving money for retirement. A way to encourage and teach high schoolers these skills could be to create a development class and include it in a students schedule. Another issue in today's society is how a high schooler writes their resume. The first look at a resume only takes about 7.4 seconds, so they need to look good. A resume is used to apply for colleges or jobs. According to the Study by Council for Economic Education 21 states require a course based on personal finance and 25 states require economics classes. Finally 80% of professionals believe that networking takes a big part in getting jobs. All of these life skills affect your future. Do the right thing and help benefit society.

Maybe its a student maybe its a teacher. students and teachers are doodling that are stressed maybe happy maybe sad, or maybe just learning. Doodling can help students learn, some students doodling can keep there brain on task. To some reserchers doodling can hold concentration it keeps there brain in the moment and attune to the tasks a hand. I think doodling should be aloud to students that can learn and doodle at the same time.

  13. Gun violence is more than just a section on the news, these are actual people that get killed. There have been 1.4 million in between 2012 and 2016, this is too much. America is an outlier on gun violence in wealthier countries. One of the reasons for gun violence is our access to them. We need to change something about this. " The U.S. government is prioritizing gun ownership over basic human rights." says Margaret Huang who is the Executive Director of amnesty international U.S.A.. Gunshots are life changing, they affect long term mental and physical health. More than 360 people in the U.S. get shot and survive. Mass shootings have emotional and psychological effects on people who witness them. Mass shootings have also created a public environment in which people feel unsafe. As you can see gun violence is a problem that people need to wake up to see.

  14. It's a beautiul clear summer day. There are only a few clouds in the sky, and the sun is shining bright. You and your family decide that it'd be a good idea to head to the zoo and experience seeing wild animals up close in places they wouldn't normally be. Everything is going great for you and the other costumers, but is it for the animals?
The first ever zoo was open to the public in 1793, located in france. The zoo franchise was established by Queen Hatshepsut, later Emperor Wen Wang of china spread over 1,500 acres to show his wealth and power. Zoo's first became popular during the 18th century, during the age of Enlightment, which was a time in European history where science, logic, and reason was promoted to the goverment. Overtime zoo's became more and more popular, which was a good thing for the zoo franchise but was it for the animals? the short answer is no. The animals are put into small enclosures that make very little attempts to mimic the animals natural habitat, the enclosures at zoo's and Aquariums restrict the space for animals, leaving no room for them to act how they would in the wild. Most animals become uncomfortble in there living space, they have to adjust to it and soon enought there wild instincts fade away. Even you aren't safe, You could argue that zoos are very safe for at least the costumers but in reality they aren't. People have to rember the these are wild animals not "trained pets". Animal abuse is widespread to 75% of zoo and aquarium facilities, 96% of elephants in entertainment facillities are treated poorly, and polar bears have a million times less space then what they would have in the wild, Plus only 18% of animals in zoos are actually endangerd.

Most of the time interince doesn't cover co-pays so most people have to pay out of pocket for their copays which is around $30 - $2,000 per section for a copay and half of the time people can't pay it so they have to pay it at the next section.

  16. Have you ever realized how much Global Warming has affected you? Global Warming is an aspect of Climate change. They are both similar. Global Warming is a big dilema people have been dealing with since the 19th century. Global Warming can cause starvation, droughts and many hurricanes to get stronger and more powerful. It can also cause floods and extreme weather. A lot of people suffer from Global Warming. You can experience Global Warming in many situations. For example, the ice cubes in your drink melting faster than usual is because of Climate Change and Global Warming. Climate change is also a very dreadful thing people are experiencing. Climate change can cause the oceans to rise and get warmer. Scientists are still trying to figure out how we can stop Global Warming or at least to make an impact. The human population is also increasing because of Global Warming. An effect Global Warming causes is called the Greenhouse effect. The Greenhouse effect is when the sun’s rays go through the atmosphere. When the rays have entered the atmosphere, they can’t go back into space. There are Greenhouse gasses as well. Which include carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, water vapor, methane, and nitrous oxide.

The ocean needs to be much cleaner! See our ocean has more plastic than five million of our schools. The trash in our ocean is so close to weighing out all the animals in the ocean! Every year we get about 3-5 trillion pieces of trash in the ocean each year. Now the ocean may be big and you may think this isn't too big but this is only just yearly. About 15-51 trillion pieces of trash are in the ocean according to the sectors of the poles. This is not stopping and this is gonna double by one hundred times if we don't stop. Now plastic production is raising 40 people in each plastic company and that's not good at all. Dead whales float onto the ocean with a belly full of plastic that there more plastic than their organs themselves. In 2050 about 2.4 billion tons of plastic. If you want to help the ocean then recycle don't use so much plastic like plastic water bottles. See If you look in the ocean or a beach you can most likely see trash either floating o the beach or in the water who knows where else trash could be? But what happens if we don't clean all the trash up?

  18. Do you ever feel like it's not fair that we have to sit in uncomfortable school chairs all day just wanting to get up and move around. Do you ever wonder why kids in elementary school get to have recess and kids in middle and high school don't. I mean yeah we might have gym, but that's not enough free time to be able to let it all out. In the article "Why Recess Should Be A Staple In Your Child's Middle School" by Fessenden, it says that " Recess plays an important role in your child's life." Recess helps your kid in learning and exercising. The article also says "Consumption of fruits and vegetables rose by 54% when lunch followed a recess period. Recess can help your kid in many ways and it is very good for the body.

Did you know cigarettes alone cause 6 million deaths worldwide each year? While that number alone is staggering, nicotine itself isn't a recreational drug so it shouldn't be used for pleasure or happiness on a regular basis. Close to 80-90 percent of smokers get easily addicted and have a craving for nicotine. 67 percent of smokers get many kinds of diseases and cancers which eventually lead to hospital visits; needing more attention to their health, and more money spent of caring for the vast amount of nicotine in their bodies. Smokers aren't actually happy from smoking, but they do have a sense of delight after smoking; as time goes by the delight goes away and they need to inhale more nicotine to get the same feeling again. What happens after nicotine is illegalized and not safe to use any more? Well, smuggling and organized crime may happen just so people can get their hands on nicotine and nicotine products the government just has to step in and take charge which normal people in society can't do alone.

What is vaping? How come a large percentage of people do it and get addicted to it everyday if it's not good for you? Well, vaping can cause harmful diseases such as lung damages/diseases and types of cancer. vaping isn't something for most people that you only do once and that is addiction. Most young adults that vape end up vaping for most of their life before deciding to quit, and urges them to want more. The original idea of vaping was to get smokers to quit and to start vaping and was advertised as " The safer way to smoke". Even though most people believed it at the time as medical research progressed, most doctors and scientist found it was the exact opposite than its original idea. “If you believe your child may try, has tried them or is using them regularly, it is definitely an issue worth addressing.”-Partnership Staff (Author). So get involved! If you know somebody who struggles with a addiction to vaping or smoking weed don't be a bystander, act. Because you never know what will happen in the future. Have you thought of vaping? Well, now will you try it.

  21. ____Have you ever encountered racism? Many people don’t realize it but it’s very common in life. What about schools? Some may think it’s much less but I am sorry to say that it’s no better. School is a place to learn and grow as a person. When going to school you were taught to be kind and fair to others. In reality everyone and everything is the complete opposite. Racism is also something the school system forgives and forgets. When growing up as a person of color, it is difficult to be treated the same by peers and teachers. For example, black students have three times more chances of getting suspended or expelled. Things such as racial slurs, favoritism, prejudice have sort of become normal in these school systems. Imagine being a regular student walking down the halls, and someone calls you a racial slur or glares at you just because you're a person of color. It won’t feel nice. That is why people need to speak up about racism in the school system.

Horse racing is very bad for horses. They get badly abused every day. The horses get whipped every few seconds during a race and a lot of times this causes injuries. They also get their tongues tied so they don't bite down on them during the race. This obviously very much hurts them. Horses are also very social animals, but they can't be social if they are kept in 10 by 10 stables all day. All of this stuff is very bad for them and reduces their life span.
