What are national parks? National parks are parts of land or bodies of water that are protected and preserved by the government. They are places where plants and animals can grow and live freely without humans always trashing their homes. These places are vastly crucial to the ecosystem, partly because other organizations like the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service allow adverse and destructive activites such as logging, livestock grazing, oil and gas drilling, trophy hunting, and growing crops with GMOs and harmful pesticides. These organizations are grabbing more of our land before the government can protect them, making them an evironment pointed in the wrong direction for the sake of our animals living nearby. “In addition, more protected forests, grasslands, and waters would fight climate change by sequestering large amounts of carbon dioxide. They would also safeguard the full range of native plant and wildlife diversity”, says Michael Kellet. More wilderness could cut the rate of animal species extinction in half!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/modest-proposal-we-need-more-national-parks
National parks are just as inadequate and horrendous as other organizations. This is because national parks tend to have more tourist. Tourists are a problem because they often do careless actions such as trampling vegetation and parking in areas not intending for areas. This is why the claim that the government and national organization are superior is extremely invalid.
DeleteDid you know that both legal and illegal trade of plastic causes damage to the environment? Plastic may be useful in many ways but plastic also damages the ecosystem. Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced every year and over 14 million of the plastic ends up in oceans and seas. Plastic can entangle many living creatures, it not only entangles them but when they mistake plastic for prey or even when they accidentally ingest small particles it can kill them. IUCN says "Many countries lack the infrastructure to prevent plastic pollution". We can prevent this from happening If we reduce the amount of plastic we use everyday and use paper or other environment-friendly items.

I think that plastic is used wisely for fuel economy in auto parts, helps with fuel economy. It is more durable than paper. it is also stronger. It was used often during covid because of safety precautions.
DeleteAs of 2019, one out of six adolescents report having made a suicide plan, which is 44% higher than in 2009. Poor mental health amidst kids and young adults is increasing. The CDC says, "Adolescence is a time for young people to have a healthy start in life. The number of adolescents reporting poor mental health is increasing." Students with poor mental health struggle with their physical health, grades/school, and decision making. They also tend to experience more drug use, violence, and higher risk sexual behaviors. Statistics say that people who are part of the LGBTQ community or questioning their sexuality experience more suicidal thoughts. This also applies to women and girls. Suicide amongst black students has increased by 50% in 2019. Families and schools can help by providing safe and comforting environments, communicating openly, spending time with their teenagers and helping with decision-making.

Do you know how bad bullying and cyberbullying actually is? Bullying is an aggressive, goal-directed behavior that harms another person physically or mentally. Cyberbullying is a term used to describe being bullied through a screen or technology. Bullying is a huge cause of depression and anxiety, and it can also make you feel afraid and alone. Bullying and cyberbulling can do detrimental damage to someone's life and the reason people do it are for their own good. People who bully do it because they are jealous or for popularity most of the time. They also do it to make themselves feel better about their own problems. About 25% of kids are bullied and one-third of teens are cyberbullied. The majority of people who are bullied are targeted because they are "different" and it makes people feel the need to try to fit in.

Eli Manning is a HOF. From the stats to the Super Bowls his resume is certainly HOF worthy. He took down Tom Brady twice (Who many consider the greatest QB of all time). In 2007 many consider his Superbowl run the greatest underdog story in history. Also on both his Superbowl runs he was an underdog in every game. Now let's dive into his stats. “Eli’s stats are more than HOF worthy” said HOF quarterback Joe Montana. Eli has the 9th most passing yards in NFL history. QBs with less yards being in the HOF. Out of the last 5 QBs elected into the HOF he has the 2nd best INT%. Also having 4 Pro Bowl selections and 6 playoff appearances, Both of those stats being tied with other HOF QBs. This proves that Eli Manning is a Hall Of Famer.

DeleteI see your point KG14.Eli Manning was a good player. Really though was he a Hall Of Famer? Throughout Eli's seven year career he has thrown 113 interceptions. That comes out to 16 picks per season. Tom Brady played a total of four more seasons. Tom has thrown only 103 interceptions. That is 10 less even when Tom has four years on Eli. If Eli Manning is a Hall Of Famer he needs to learn how to handle the football first. Most elite quarterbacks have at least a career with 60% or more completions. Eli manning is sitting at a 58% completions, that's rough. There has been so many people questioning his leadership skills. Eli manning doesn't have a lot of vocal confidence like his brother Peyton. He is so emotionless that he gives the people a reason to believe that he's not a leader. Is he a Hall Of Famer?
DeleteHave you gone to school and wondered if the promised safety is truly safe? Well, it isn't- thanks to the loose rules of gun control if somebody has a bad day it can end in the harm of many. The west Michigan highschool called Fruitport high school has started a $48 million dollar project to build up defense and help against a possible active shooter. The project will add curved hallways, jutting barriers to provide cover and spaced classrooms to reduce a gunmans range. Fruitport Superintendent, Bob Szymoniak said-
ReplyDelete“If I go to FPH and I want to be an active shooter, I’m going to know I have reduced sightlines. It has reduced his ability to do harm.” An architect of the project, Matt Slagle talks on the topic- “Unfortunately, that’s the way things are now, We’ll never make it completely safe from someone who desires to cause harm.” Professer of Loyola University college, James Garbino
says “Children exposed to gun violence may experience negative short and long-term psychological effects, including anger, withdrawal, post traumatic stress, and desensitization to violence." 25% of children witness violence in their communites, and 5% have witnessed shootings. Aswell as 228,000+ students have been exposed to gun violence in school since 1999, and as of recently, Bullet proof backpack sales have gone up. We worry for kids' safety and build schools differently because of our broken gun control. Don't you agree that it's sad we build around the issue instead of tackling the true problem? Have you looked at space before? Did you know there is also millions of space debris around this planet? A lot of things caused this, for example, space companies and governments. China did a lot to contribute junk into space. China sent a rocket at an old satellite just to test out the rocket and make sure it work, but this in turn actually sent thousands more of space debris out. Space debris rapidly duplicates in a sense. Of course this is because when space debris crashes into each other it breaks into smaller pieces. This also happens when things are traveling at 10km per second. This is a major hazard for satellites orbiting Earth. Especially when the debris lasts decades in space.

Middle school students would benefit from more physical activity during their school day. According to expert Dwayne Proctor, "Experts recommend that high school and middle school students get 225 minutes of physical education per week during the school year, but in fact many don’t get that much." A poll reported in Harvard shows that 7 out of 10 American parents believe their child does not get enough P.E. time. Schools need to have more physical education.
ReplyDeleteI dissagree with you. Physical Education is very exspensive for supplies. Many teachers are getting layed off by there district. Most of the money is better spent on retaining talented teachers or fundamental academic programs.
DeleteYou might think that abortion is totally justified. After all, it is just a clump of cells, right? Wrong. Did you know that a baby's heart starts beating and limbs are formed at only 18 days after fertilization? That is only about half of a month! according to www2.wrtl.org, By the second month, a baby has already produced brain waves and developed all of his/her bodily organs! And at month three, only about a third of the way in the pregnancy, a baby can make faces and has grown hair and fingernails. This is not right. Taking away an innocent human life! It obviously isn't okay to kill an innocent adult. So why is it okay to kill an innocent baby?
ReplyDeletehttp://www2.wrtl.org/fetal-development/babys-development-month-by-month/
While i agree with you sometimes Abortion can be a good thing. Women who receive abortions are less likely to suffer from mental health problems and that is a good thing because a lot of people suffer from mental health. It also reduces crime and abortion is justified as a means of population control. and Last a baby should not come into this world unwanted.
DeleteI disagree, 25% women who get abortions either can't afford a baby or were impregnated without their consent, both reasons can end in serious problems with the parent and the child. The child can be brought up in really bad conditions (possibly even abandoned) or if the mother can't handle the pregnancy she's at risk of dying which will kill both the baby and an adult.
DeleteIn the last 15 years, out of the near-century of plastic usage, one-half of all plastic generation and creation has occurred. "[Plastic] production increased exponentially, from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 448 million tons by 2015. Production is expected to double by 2050," says a National Geographic article writer. Even disregarding the fact that the estimated plastic produced by 2050 will nearly amount to 179 billion pounds, an estimated 700 species are affected by plastic and microplastic pollutants -- including humans. Plastic's effect on humans can truly be felt in lesser developed countries, specifically in Asia and Africa. The main cause of this is because of the lack of being able to create efficient and productive trash collection and disposal systems, but also because of the lack of recycling, and without recycling and reusing plastics, environments are hit with durable substances that take an upwards of 400 years to biodegrade. Plastics can be so broken down, but not biodegraded, that they are impossible to see with the naked eye; these microplastics have spread to virtually every corner of the Earth.

In the year 2000 1.8 million people illegally crossed the U.S. border that is a lot of people that are not U.S. citizens living in the U.S. This also means we do not know if they have a criminal record. A quote by the CBP says this "They were pulled in by the chance at a good job in a booming U.S. economy. They were lured by smugglers dangling a false promise that if they bring their children, they will get to stay in the U.S." As you can tell it is not just for U.S. citizen safety, but the safety of the immigrants. More evidence is in 2015 the amount of people that crossed into the U.S. border was 200,00. Only about 50% of Illegal crosser are caught. That means that 100,000 people crossed the border that have no U.S. identification so the government does not even know they are here. This is why I believe that having a stronger border is very important.

I understand your point here, but what about the people living in Mexico who need to cross the border because they can't find a job. In 2010 four teenage boys in Mexico crossed the Rio Grande when it was very shallow. Once they reached the fence a guard with his gun drawn was already coming at them. After sometime the Guard shot at the boys and killed 15 year old Sergio Guereca. Maybe border patrol is important for fighting crime lords, but what about the civilians.
DeleteI understand your point, but people that are crossing our borders are mostly trying to exit their country from war or more harsh things. When they cross their kids are put in cages to be by themselves while their parents are getting arrested for crossing. I do understand the point about smugglers and criminals crossing but I dont think they should be going through lots of pain from leaving a country that is way worse then ours with wars, and harmful things happening to the citizens.
Deletewe shouldn't have a stronger border. Because they are coming because their life is in danger down there. plus you don't know if they're smuggling or if they have a criminal record. so i think they shouldn't have stronger border.
DeleteDo you know what ghost fishing is? Ghost fishing is when big fishing boats go out to sea with giant nets and just sit there for days and fish just swim into their nets. Sometimes, the nets break off and it is very hard to get the nets back and a bunch of fish and ocean life die. 136,000 seals die every year from the practice. 640,000 pieces of ghost fishing gear is lost in the ocean every year. Now, they are making underwater drones to send to the bottom of the ocean to find the nets and pull them out. More needs to be done to clean up nets in the ocean.

I disagree with you farmerg. To support my disagreement people don't get their equipment because they could be fishing over sharp rock and not wanting to go get their fishing equipment. Another reason they lose their fishing equipment is if the water is too deep and unable to get there equipment. Also sometimes they don't know when the weather is bad and they can't go back.

Imagine, 80% of ocean pollution is from land. Crazy right? Ocean pollution has two layers that make up its full form, surface water, and groundwater. Surface water holds most of the pollution. Surface water is water that is visible, while groundwater is accessible underground. Oil, chemicals, plastic, and underwater mining are all the main causes of ocean pollution. 35% of pollution is from oil, it's washed away by the rain. Oil is on everything, so it is very easy for oil to travel into the ocean. Chemicals also get washed away by the rain. And since we use chemicals every day, it becomes a big thing. We use plastic every day for everything. We never realize when we are using plastic negatively. Plastic makes up a large portion of trash in the ocean, and plastic doesn't degrade. this means it will stay in the ocean forever. And finally mining in and offshore. Mining can actually help cause a lot of the other causes above. It can also negatively affect the environment. A lot of this information has been carefully researched. A lot of this information is from study.com partnering with an expert named Christianlly Cena. Anything can cause ocean pollution so be careful.

Rest is necessary for avoiding exercise-induced fatigue. Remember, exercise depletes your muscles’ glycogen levels. If these stores aren’t replaced, you’ll experience muscle fatigue and soreness.
DeletePlus, your muscles need glycogen to function, even when you’re not working out. By getting adequate rest, you’ll prevent fatigue by letting your glycogen stores refill.
Not to mention Regular rest is essential for staying safe during exercise. When your body is overworked, you’ll be more likely to fall out of form, drop a weight, or take a wrong step.
Overtraining also exposes your muscles to repetitive stress and strain. This increases the risk of overuse injuries, forcing you to take more rest days than planned.
Having more PE time hurts kids mental health. Having no choice in PE is what is hurting kids. Kids have to play sports they don't like or are not good at. Kids are feeling left out and having to suffer longer hurts them more. More PE time is hurting kids day by day.

ReplyDeleteI bet you use your phone or Chromebooks a few minutes. But, to be more accurate, you use your devices at least 5 to 6 hours a day! That is a lot of time you are spending on your phone/Chromebook. You'd been using one of them for 30 minutes (probably) in lunch, access, and the bus ride from home to bus ride from school. Diabetes and obesity are two very frequent illnesses in America. The two illnesses are strongly linked with the food choices Americans make. America simply lacks healthy eating, but you may ask why? The easy answer is that the cost you pay for a unhealthy high calorie packed diet is greater than the cost for a healthy fresh fruits and vegetable filled diet. That's called "Getting more bang for your buck" says researcher Dorotea Sotirovska. No amount of "Bang" can prove that this is a healthy lifestyle. That's why US Organizations are trying to put a stop to this because they know we know that the key to being healthier is to eat healthier.

If immediate action is not taken, there is a high probability the average global temperature will rise to 2.7 degrees warming threshold. The earth has not been this warm since the Pliocene epoch which was roughly 3 million yrs ago
The end game of global warming include:
more frequent wildfires
longer periods of drought in some regions and an increase in the number,
duration and intensity of tropical storms.
The world will be inhospitable for humans.
It's not impossible for us to stop global warming each and every one of us are involved we can help by reducing use of plastic , Picking up litter, walking ,biking, or use public transportation to reach our destinations. Recycle and eat more vegetables, throw away less food.
We can stop global warming give later generations a better future a healthier planet.

DeleteEveryday people go to restaurants, and the average restaurant wastes over 25,000 to 75,000 pounds of food per year. It is terrible that good food is being thrown out when people in need are going hungry! Some restaurants and organizations have made it their mission to stop food waste. For example, Feedback is an organization that had a food festival where chefs made meals for the hungry. Still, not enough is being done because people are unaware of all the issues.

Should school lunches be free in schools? No, they shouldn't. Visualize you are in a middle school lunchline. Your usual lunch consists of chocolate milk, pizza, and cookies.
ReplyDelete"Your total has come out to one dollar."
"What?"
Usually, that bundle of food would come out to five dollars. Why would it be one?
Because of free school lunches. Free meals are being aided to all students in the U.S in this 2021-2022 school year. In Farnsworth Middle School as long as you have a fruit or vegetable on your tray, you are eligible for a free lunch. No need to eat it; you can throw it out. That itself seems ridiculous. According to Chobani Warwick, a school district in Rhode Island would need fifty thousand dollars to pay for accumulated lunch debt. Imagine that around the country, with school lunches free for everyone. Considering the what if, if schools decide to charge what they initially did, students that could not afford can apply for reduced or free lunches. Students that can afford it (the high or middle-class) might just be taking advantage of it.
research shows that receiving free or reduced-price school lunches reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health. Also the poverty rate of those without a high school diploma which was 24.7 percent in 2020, so if school lunch wasn't free those without money, and in poverty wouldn't be able to consistently pay for lunch meaning they could starve through out the day.
DeleteI respectively disagree, I think school lunches it could cause the school district in debt, plus the school district as to pay for the supplies for the food. Over the last four years, these programs have had an improper payment rates of 16%-23%, respuilly.
DeleteSchool lunches should be free. If a family can't afford school lunch, free school lunch would help that child to eat. According to lisbdnet.com "receiving free or reduced-price school lunches reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health." Do we really want our youth to grow up with obesity or poor health? The same website also stated " school meals have transformed from being a stamp of poverty to a tool for community building and social development." This is why school lunches should be free for all students.
DeleteI disagree with your argument. An article from "lisbdnet.com" says that receiving free or reduced-price school lunches reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health. It also states that providing food to children at school is one way that the government can directly address poverty and food insecurities, and positively effect children's well-being.
DeleteFree school lunches are a good thing, because it increases dietary intake and positively impacts nutritious and obesity rates. It also reduces food insecurity and even if it puts schools in debt, that is their fault for not addressing that to the principal beforehand.
DeleteSchool lunches should be free because some children might not have enough food at home, and families may lack the funds to pay for a school lunch.
DeleteYou may think that every gender is treated equally, but in some places in the world it is far from that. Even though the U.S isn't as bad as some other countries it isn't the best. At the current rate of change it will take about 200 years to achieve gender equality, and that's just in the U.S. Savethechildren.org says that from the moment children are born they face “unequal gender norms” globally. These include expectations, opportunities, and access to resources which could vary based on your gender. For example all around the world boys are encouraged to go to collage more than girls, and girls are encouraged to stay home and do household chores instead of going to school, which then increases the odds of child marriage and pregnancy. Even though we have come a long way we still have more progress to make.
