  1. In 2019, The Guardian reported that ¨one in three women think a item of clothing worn just once or twice is old.¨ Becuse of that, millions of garmets are thrown out every day while only 14% is recycled. People who throw out clothes commonly are responsible for huge amounts of waste every year. This is one of the bad effects of fast fashion. You might be wondering, what is fast fashion. Dictionary.com´s definition is ¨low-priced clothing that is brought to market quickly and copies fashion trends created by luxury brands or small independent designers.¨ In simpler words, fast fashion is clothing produced very fast that is usually made of not good and sustainable materials. Those bad materials dont last long and that is a big reason why they get thrown out after just a couple of wears. Fast Fashion also uses child labour because most of fashion is made from poor countries such as Egypt, Pakistan,India and many more.

  2. You know all that plastic that you use everyday to hold your food the stuff that's in your clothes and many other things. Well a lot of that ends up in landfills and the pacific garbage patch even some of the recyclable stuff that you and many others use. Well in your mind you might not really care as long as it's a long ways away but when you think about it all those fish may eat some of that plastic and if you eat the fish you have just eaten plastic that that fish ate and I don't think you would want to eat plastic.

    1. I like your point but you have no numbers, numbers are a big part of an argument. If I say how there is much gun violence in a year, but not give numbers it's not very engaging plus there's no facts which prove a problem. Also if I provided no info that might mean numbers are low and there's no point in arguing. On save the oceans site they give much info for example they say "But today there are thousands of particles of plastic waste in every square kilometer of the sea." that info wants me to help the cause.

    2. Not all fish in the oceans are eating plastic. "The percentage of fish that have ingested plastics in the nature varies between 2.6 and 36.5 %." This amount is certainly not all fish in the world. Therefore plastic is not destroying the population of fish. "The average number of plastic pieces per fish caught in the wild is observed to be relatively low: of the fish that have ingested plastic." The average amount suggests that the change in fish pollution is not a drastic problem.

  3. Not getting enough physical activity is actually a bigger problem than most people view it. For starters, people that take time to exercise sleep better and more soundly. Getting enough sleep at night is crucial. But what can a lack of sleep actually do to your body? Lack of sleep because of lack of physical acticity can actually be deadly. It can cause obesity, diabetes, and even heart disease. Obesity is when you gain weight, and it can make your average day more challenging. Also, people who do exercise have a 19% lower chance of developing colon cancer. Colon cancer is a cancer that can be developed in your colon.

  4. America is a beautiful, free country but also ranked 12th in the world for obesity. Obesity is a serious chronic disease that could kill you. There are more than 3 million cases per year in the USA. So great. Why couldn't America be 12th in the country for having the least violence? Why did we have to be 12th in the country for obesity? 42.4% of our country is overweight and obese. Obesity is killing about 300,000 people per year. Studies say that obesity can cause strokes, heart attacks, some types of cancers, etc. Obesity is seriously killing your mental health. It does not hurt you to get up and get up and or for a run or a walk.

  5. More lockdowns were imposed by Trump, causing chaos on the streets. He made them by encouraging his supporters not to wear masks and telling people not to get vaccinated because vaccines do not work. He also encouraged people to gather and hold parties. People who have followed the Covid 19 rules and guidelines are unlikely to receive Covid 19. These people are most likely Democrats. Trump states are more likely to receive Covid 19 than Biden states. States that were 60% Trump had a 2.73 percent higher death rate than states that supported Biden. Trump states had a threefold greater chance of receiving Covid than Biden states. He "killed" 400k of his supporters by instructing them not to follow the CDC guidelines as well as rules His supporters either don't wear masks correctly or don't wear them at all. They avoid social distance, refuse to be vaccinated, and claim that vaccines do not work. They cause travel delays by failing to follow the CDC's rules and guidelines. Some presidential residents have resigned as a result of the stress and bad things that have occurred. The capitol was attacked, which was a superspreader in the epidemic, and all of those participating were Trump supporters who were not wearing masks or following the CDC's instructions.
“After all this time, the president still does not have a plan,” Biden said. “Well, I do. If I’m your president, on Day 1, we’ll implement the national strategy I’ve been laying out since March.”

  6. Ever heard of a carbon footprint? The term gained popularity during BP's (British Petroleum) 2004 carbon footprint ad campaign that influenced people to be keep the environment safe. Sounds, noble, right? Except it wasn't. BP, an oil company that released more than 374 million metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in 2020, is telling you to "be more concious of your carbon footprint". The ad campaign was a work of deception that was used to shift the blame of climate change off of themselves and onto consumers. BP also released a "carbon footprint calculator" at the same time of the campaign, allowing users to purchase "carbon credits" to fund carbon reduction projects to offset their own carbon footprint. Yet according to Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary, fewer than 5 percent of [carbon] offsets in 2020 removed C02 from the atmosphere. In reality, the term carbon footprint was a phrase made up by big oil companies to shift the blame of climate change off of them and onto you, letting them off the hook at the same time.

  7. Do African-Americans deserve to be treated unequally? Does the color of one's skin really matter? I'm sure those questions make you think about what's going on in the world, especially the things that are going horribly wrong. People are being shot, and families are being tortured and mocked, simply because they are of a different color. Black Americans are treated as if they are slaves with no families to care for. According to Christian E. Weller, "the decline in prime-age employment rates associated with the Great Recession began two months earlier for African Americans than for whites and lasted 15 months longer for white workers."
April 20-26, 2020: 10,139 American adults were polled about their trust in police, and 56 percent of them were black, indicating a neutral level of trust and 78% of white = the same.
January 2-8, 2020: 1,088 black Americans: 83% do not trust the police, while 14% do.
May 29-30, 2020: 1,060 US adults = 94% of black Americans were treated worse than white Americans.
June 4-10, 2020: 9,564 US citizens = 64% of black men treated unfairly by police.

  8. We all have that aching feeling in the morning when the alarm goes off. You probably want to stay in bed, and get a few extra hours of sleep. Whether you have school, work, or simply anything that requires focus and action, it's crucial to be well rested. A study from the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry Trusted Source states, "children's sleep patterns can have a direct impact on their behavior and academic performance." The problem is, some people aren't getting a sufficient amount of sleep and their mental health is diminishing. Adults ages 18-60 need a minimum of 7 hours of sleep each night to sustain good health. If you prioritize your sleep, your body will receive tremendous benefits.

  10. Think of your classroom; your desks are in groups or pods for the majority of your classes. You sit with other kids and are forced to share your opinions and ideas with them. This set up is a nightmare for introverts, but this nightmare is unknown to the teachers and others who enforce these seating arrangements. These teachers are setting their classrooms up like this because they are trying to encourage shy people to gain confidence, but what they don’t realize is that the "shy people" they are trying to "encourage" are really just well off introverts who don’t need this kind of help. There is a big difference between shy people and introverts. Anna Haas puts it this way: "Shyness is the fear of social judgment, while introversion is when a person prefers to be in quieter and more solitary environments." These teachers don’t understand this yearning to be in a quiet setting and assume that this yearning is a bad thing. Teachers, for the most part, are extroverts, and their natural instincts are to find people who are quiet and try to find a way where they can become just as chatty as you. This is why introverts feel ashamed of their quietness and are constantly put in a state of depression at their unability to meet their teachers' standards. Susan Cain describes this feeling in her Ted Talk: "The Power of Introverts". "All the time, I got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being wasn't necessarily the right way to go, and that I should try to pass as more of an extrovert." These teachers aren't necessarily doing anything wrong; they're just doing what they feel is right. These teachers need to understand that although their methods may be good for extroverts, they should consider what it's like for introverts and change accordingly. As Noa Herz puts it, "It is time that society acknowledged that one size doesn’t fit all."

    2. I agree with you that we need to realize one size doesn't fit all but I am confused about how school seating is part of the problem. You talk about how teachers put the desks in pods to encourage confidence, but each teacher puts seating based on their activities in class. Think about Mr. Dueslers classroom, he had it in small groups when we did group presentations. Now they are in rows. The seating isn't based on encouraging introverts it's on completing efficient academics. Although I believe it can be harder for introverts.

They filmed, and posted a video of them stomping on, and crushing their innocent puppy to death. Some may say that there are to many dogs, or animals in this world; But its not okay for a human to be killed...right? Then why a helpless animal? Studies have shown that children exposed to this violence are 60 times more likely to harm an animal themselves, and even worse, people can ¨graduate" from harming animals to even harming humans. So this problem you might think isnt that big, could end up harming someone you know. The National PTA Congress states “Children trained to extend justice, kindness and mercy to animals become more just, kind and considerate in their relations to each other..."

Even things like brushing your teeth, taking a shower and washing your hands can really take a toll on others lives. For example, a man named Peter who lives with his 5 childern wakes up at 4 in the morning to go get water for there day ahead. Peter's youngest daughter is only 4 years old and is already in habbit of walking 2 1/2 miles round trip to gather water for the family. Peter says collecting the water in the mornings has really effected their lives as being normal childern. But all of this could change considering the amount of water the average american uses, around 82 gallons of water per day, 30 gallons of that water is wasted. Maybe we think this okay because it's not affecting us as individuals at least not yet. But by 2040 1 in 4 children will live in areas with high levels of water scarcity because almost all of earth is water 70% is earth water and 3% is fresh water.

  14. Do you know how much pollution is made from driving you place to place? Well according to John Walke, the director of the Clean Air project says “Most air pollution comes from energy and uses production.” An example of this is, creating energy by burning fossil fuels which releases gases and chemicals into the air. This releases nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere which contributes to smog and acid rain. Smog (sometimes referred to as ground-level ozone) occurs when the release from combusting fossil fuels reacts with sunlight. Soot (also known as particulate matter) is made up of tiny particles of chemicals, soil, smoke, dust, or allergens in the form of either gas or solids that are carried in the air. Air pollution is bad for the earth and the people on it.

  15. Would you like random strangers on the other side of the screen to know everything about you? Teens ( ages 14-17 ) have to stop sharing so much information online. A study shows that at least 71% of teens post where they live, which is all someone needs to find you. Over 60% of teens post their full name, address, photo of themselves, and their birthday. As a result, people who just see your profile once can gather enough information to find your house, school, family, and you. It sounds crazy, but it's true. Teenagers are the most vulnerable for abduction, and about 2,300 children are reported missing daily.40% are of abducted teens are killed, and 74% are murdered in the first 3 hours. 44% of teens are somewhat concerned about their privacy online, while 22% are not at all. Many teens don't realize how crucial this information can be, and posting it publicly for hundreds of eyes to see is never a good thing. Avery Conroy, a 15-year-old who lives in Connecticut, says that she uses her real name on Facebook with the highest privacy setting, and on Twitter has a fake name with public tweets. "I don't want my Twitter to come up when you Google my name," she says. It's very important that you don't give out personal information online.

Because there are so many people doing it, there will not be as large of a chance to get abducted as you think there might be. Because it's mostly children 14-17, they are older and can protect and defend themselves. There is a 0.0697% chance of having the same name as someone, so that adds up to about 5576000 people across the world having the same name, so it would be hard to find one of so many names.Over 20 million people have the same last name, so with just a birthday, it would be very hard to find someones identity.

Well, The National Education Association and the National Parent Teacher Association recommend that students spend 10 minutes per grade level on homework. So a first grader should have 10 minutes of homework a night and a second-grader should have 20 and so on. Now that we know the right amount of homework you should have. We should look at some of the side effects. According to CNN, this is what they had to say.“The findings were troubling: Research showed that excessive homework is associated with high-stress levels, physical health problems, and lack of balance in children’s lives; 56% of the students in the study cited homework as a primary stressor in their lives." “Those children growing up in poverty are at risk for several ailments is both intuitive and well-supported by research. More difficult to believe is the growing consensus that children on the other end of the spectrum, children raised in affluence, may also be at risk.” That’s not all students that play sports have to go to practice and come home to do extra homework. Students shouldn’t have to base their lives outside of school base of work outside of school. We need homework that is in health moderations and stops the stress of excessive homework

People often recoil away from the thought of having discussions on matters that plague our society. One example is when twenty kids and six adult staff members had been killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty-year-old Adam Lanza had shot his way into the school and killed twenty six people, most of which were just children! "We rarely have gun discussions in the United States," David Hemenway quite accurately states, "We have gun debates." Gun violence had increased significantly in the past couple years. According to a recent research Harvard conducted, the killing rate related to gun violence in America is 25X higher than other rich countries. For young people generally around the age of 15 to 24 years old, the death rate is dreadfully 45X higher, and the suicide rate is 8X higher than other countries. As a whole, America ranks about 112th in the world. It doesn't sound as horrifying as it should, but considering the rising statistics of people who die each day with firearm related injuries, it is a very big concern. Many reason contribute to this horrifyingly rising number, some of them being; mental health, anger issues, substance addiction, poverty, inequality, racism, education quality, and even family issues. Gun violence is a very big problem in our society that people need to be more educated about.

If you divide the number of people with mental issues by the total number of people in the United States, it shows that around 6-16% of people COULD be causing gun deaths. Also, if we divide the number of gun deaths every year by the total number of deaths, gun deaths contribute to 0.01% of total deaths in the U.S. I agree, gun violence should definitely be stopped, but also, it doesn't contribute to even 1% of total deaths every year.

You sure are donating to their charity. Which is called the scamming business. Pretty good charity, I know. Scammers use so many different techniques to manipulate the person they are scamming. One of the ways they scam people is by trust. They usually go after seniors, because seniors are usually trusting and kind. They can easily pull money from seniors by pretending to be a charity. Scammers can pull money from seniors in other ways. In government impression scams, they act like they work for the government to get the person to donate to a fund or cause. Sometimes, they threaten the people that are calling to get them to give them the money. Relative scamming is another way. Scammers pull off this method by acting like they are a relative that needs financial help. There are some ways to prevent being scammed. So here's a really simple way, just don't pick up the phone. I know, it is a very difficult challenge. Also, even if you're on the phone talking, remember not to give anybody your personal information like your zip code, address, phone number, and especially your bank account information. This is why the scamming business is so evil & bad. They take, steal, and walk away with your money.

    2. Social media isn't addictive. A research experiment at the university of strathclyde did not find evidence of attentional bias. People who frequently checked and posted their social media accounts were no more likely to have their attention drawn to the icon of a social media app than those who check and post less often. If there even was addiction it would not have the severity of bia such as of gambling and alcohol.

  20. Why are Global Warming rates so high?
Well simple. It is because of daily human activites. Everyone is the world does activites. The activites can be literally anything that people do. Now because of these activites the global warming rates have gone up super fast. Now most everywhere has a very high raet for Global Warming but the places thta have the highest rates are:Chinas,United States,India,Russia,Japan,Germany and Iran. The number of all of those places are around: 5.5 million,13.83 million or even 18.17 million(million cases). But nothing beats the top 3 countries that are most responsible of Global Warming are:United States,U.K and Canada. The numbers for those cases are:6,558,454.8,1.6.

  21. Depression is a serious mental illness. There are many different types of depression, like Bi-Polar, Clinical depression, Persistent depressive disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and many more. But the cases of depression are continuesly rising. For example, in between the years of 2005-15, cases of depressive illness increased by nearly a fifth this is a huge problem but why do the cases keep rising? Well children who grow up are more common to have depression if there was violence or alcohol/ physical/ sexual abuse, but depression could also be genetic. Depression is known to be genetic, around 50% percet of depression is in fact, genetic. so genetics, violence and abuse both play huge roles with depression but stress, school, bullying, could all cause depression too

"oh oh no I have bipolar disorder im gonna change personalities for no reason oh no!" at this point how about you become a actor because that what you love doing so so much. and is it really a "huge problem??" not really it's all for attention so it's not a huge problem at all.

  22. 81% of stolen online accounts are snatched by leveraging their weak passwords. Most people don't consider how horrid their passwords really are, when their password is 'qwerty'. “Hackers are using common terms from pop culture and sports to break into accounts online," says Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData. "They know many people are using those easy-to-remember words.” Even if your passwords is secured with the recommended 12 character combination, your personal information is still in kahoots. Hackers can buy a 99$ easy-to-find device and modify it to become a fraudulent WiFi hotspot. They can sit in a crowded space and watch as hundreds connect up. With this setup, hackers effectively become a man in the middle, observing all user interaction. And yes, in case you were wondering, people sign in to personal sites, shop online, and even access company accounts all on public WiFi. Speaking of company accounts, you small business may just be a hacker's next target. 61% of all cyber attacks zero in on business with less than 1,000 employees. One of the tricks hackers use is phishing, where they send you an email pretending to be a big or affiliate company reaching out to you. You click on the link they send you, and you're asked to fill out company information. This gives the hacker complete access to all of your information, masquerading as you through the front door of your company's private information.

  24. We all have that aching feeling in the morning when the alarm goes off. You probably want to stay in bed, and get a few extra hours of sleep. Whether you have school, work, or simply anything that requires focus and action, it's crucial to be well rested. A study from the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry Trusted Source states, "children's sleep patterns can have a direct impact on their behavior and academic performance." The problem is, some people aren't getting a sufficient amount of sleep, and their mental health is diminishing. Adults ages 18-60 need a minimum of 7 hours of sleep each night to sustain good health. If you prioritize your sleep, your body will receive tremendous benefits.

  25. Should cell phones be allowed in school? I believe that cell phones should be allowed in school because it provides a way for students to communicate with their parents and friends. During the pandemic it was extremely useful way for kids to maintain social connections with their friends, as everyone tried to maintain social distancing. During emergencies it allows students to call out and let their parents or even the police know what is happening. Schools believe that cell phones create a distraction for both the student and the class and innapropiate websites or pictures that can be accessed. This is why we must meet in the middle and have rules that we must follow. “Have a plan, not a ban," Liz Kline, vice president for education at Common Sense Education in the San Francisco Bay Area, told USA TODAY in 2018. 26. What is Global Warming? You may have heard the term being discussed at school or at home, without really knowing what it means. Global Warming is the rising of the Earth's surface temperature. Did you know that as of 2009, Carbon Dioxide levels have increased nearly 38%? Scientists predict that by the end of this century, the earth's temperature will have increased 6 degrees celsius. That might not seem like a lot, but it is. The hottest temperature a human can withstand is 108 degrees fahrenheit. Think about it. Some summer days in New York go way up into the 90's. Sometimes even 100's! If the some days go past 108 degrees fahrenheit, that could be very bad for us!
A main cause of Global Warming is pollution. Pollution comes from cars, airplanes, trucks, boats, etc. It also comes from the burning of fossil fuels (non-renewable sources of energy like coal, and oil) in factories. Pollution causes a blanket of heat to get trapped around the earth, warming the temperature of the earth.
So why is the warming of the earth so bad? Well for one, it melts glaciers causing sea levels to rise. Rising sea levels cause floods, and severe droughts if the atmosphere can hold more water. Rising temperatures hurt fish, and other wildlife along with plants. Furthermore, doctors and farmers are noticing heat stress in humans and wildlife.
So I ask of you to please walk or ride a bike whenever you can. Or to use less electricity. Many times your electricity is powered by coal, or gas. In other words, fossil fuels. It's the little things like that, that could be a huge step to helping our planet.

  28. Pollution is one of society's biggest problems. You have most likely heard about it. But what really is pollution? Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. It causes many terrible things like animal extinction, oceans and temperatures rising and millions of deaths in people, plants and animals every single day all because of the astronomical amount of resources we use every day.
