What could be a possible message from “Wild Things” that we could apply to our own lives? In other words, what advice might the song be trying to offer us? Be sure to include at least two lines from the song to support your conclusions (you may look back at the lyrics as often as you like).

  1. I think that the song is saying to basically be who you are. The line, “We have no apologies for being”, is a good statement of that. And the line “Find you’re great, don’t you hide your face”, is basically saying that you should believe in yourself.

    1. The interpretation of the song Wild Things is spot on. The song really portrays the message of being who you are. The line, "The cool kids aren't cool to me. They're not cooler than we are." helps with the message of being who you are and not letting people change that. You have a really strong interpretation of the song and the lines you used really helped explain that.

    2. Sara I think your interpretation is great because I thought the exact same thing about the song. Those lines you quoted are good to back up your interpretation with because the are saying be yourself.

  2. The message that is being said in the wild things is don't always play by the rules.Don't let others create things for you to follow. Alessia Cara said “we don't need your 808s” so not all the time you need to follow what others say.She also said “the cool kids aint cool to me” meaning don't think anyone is above you.Look at yourself as great and nothing less do whatever it takes to be you or even to be wild.Make your own rules and policies. Also let the people who try to stop you know that they can find you where the wild things are.

    1. I also think that along with the message that you shouldn't let other people create things that you have to follow, that you should do that especially when the thing the other people created doesn't make you happy. Your interpretation is really good because you took literally what the song said but still added a little bit of your own meaning in the song.

    2. I agree with you Knight you explained what the two lines that that you chose meant when you explained that the 808's line was about not always doing what people tell you to do I did not think of it that way when I read it. What i'm saying is you knew what the song was about and you did a great job explaining it.

  3. In the song where the wild things live i think the main message of this song is ignore the haters and always stay true to yourself. Alessia Cara showed her message through out the song by using really clever lyrics such as “if you do not like our 808's then leave us alone.‘ 808’s translate to two things. One of the things that 808’s translates to is broken hearts so this one way how she was clever. The way this can be used as self confidence is by ignoring people if they don't like you also has the other lesson block out the haters. Another translation for 808 is a old school bass player website. The second part of the song that teaches us the lesson is when she sings “the cool kids aren't cool to me. They're not cooler than me.” This shows once again the self confidence she has and the how to block out the haters. This is my opinion on how Alessia Cara showed her lesson throughout the song where the wild things are.

    1. That message from the song "wild things" makes a lot of sense and is a strong interpretation because blocking out the haters is very important, to not let people change hoo you are. To be yourself and no one else. Also, the song could mean that just because you're different doesn't mean there is something wrong with you.

    2. The message you interpreted is a strong interpretation. It is strong because you talked about how 808's are about self-confidence and that your interpretation is self-confidence.

  4. A message from the song “Wild Things” is that it’s okay to be different, or, as the song puts it, “wild.” A line that supports this is “Don’t want to hang around the in-crowd, the cool kids aren’t cool to me, they’re not cooler than we are.” I think this line is saying you shouldn’t worry about being cool, you should just be yourself. Another line is “We don’t care what they say, no way.” I think this line means you shouldn’t care about other people’s opinions. Another line that supports this is “We will leave the empty chairs to those who say we can’t sit there,” which means although you might be excluded by some people, you shouldn’t let it bother you.

    1. Gabby, Its is okay to be different and your quotes support this entirely. Its awesome That you used three quotes. What really makes this a strong interpretation is how you connected all of the quotes and it still makes sense.

  5. In the song "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara, the lyrics say " You tell me to tread, I'd rather be a wild on instead" I think by this she means that others are telling telling her how to act and who to be and to that she’s saying, no I'm not gonna let you control my life, I'd rather do whatever I want to do when I want to.
She also says “Let ‘em sell what they are selling, there are no buyers here” And I think she means to let others do what they want to do cause if they can't control you you can't control them, and don't bother them about what they're doing even if you don't like it.
I think these are really important messages to be sending to young people because it shows them to be who you are and don't change yourself for anyone. Also to be respectful to others and not try to change who they are.

    1. Great job Brianna! Your interpretation is strong, and your message is so unique. Being who you are and don't change for anyone, is almost exactly what I wrote. Being yourself is one thing everyone should learn. The thing I thought was unique was your other interpretation . Being respectful to others and not trying to change who the are is an awesome interpretation that I would have never thought of. Both of your interpretations were spot on and they were great messages everyone should learn.

  6. A lesson we can apply to our lives is to always BE YOU, and don’t let other people judge you for who you are. A line to support that lesson is,”The cool kids aren’t cool to me,” and They’re not cooler than we are.” Those lines teach us that always BE YOU don’t let other people think they are better than you. Some advice is to always stay positive, think positive, and believe in yourself. Also Never let your guard down.

    1. Good Job Matt!! Your interpretation was to always be yourself, which fit the song. This really fit the song. Your lines went along. I don't see thought how the line "The cool kids aren't cool to me fits the message to think positive, and believe in yourself. But the message to believe in yourself was really good, and really fit the song.

  7. I believe the song 'Wild Things' by Alessia Cara is telling the readers that she and her friends have their own rules. In another words, Alessia and her friends don't follow stereotypical trends given by the 'cool kids'...Alessia is telling readers to do the same thing. Alessia is telling them to do things their own way and not to follow people (and their requirements to be 'cool'.)
"Then leave us alone, we don't need your policies." She says in one line of the song, basically saying if you don't like how she chooses to do things, then to walk away.
She also says "You tell me to trend, but I'd rather be a wild one instead." So she is saying she would rather not be typical and she would rather do what she wants instead of being a follower.
So in conclusion...Alessia is telling the readers to not follow anyone's 'rules' or 'trends' and to just do their own thing. And doing something their own way is okay, they don't have to follow trends to be cool.

    1. The notion of people having to be part of "the cool kids" to be cool is absurd. If you think you are cool, then you are. Don't let society dictate how you need to act. This message is supported by various lines in the song, such as "Then leave us alone, we don't need your policies." or " They're not cooler than we are,".

  8. in the song “Wild Things" by Alessia Cara the message is that we should stay who we are and we do not have to change ourselves to make anyone else happy, if we are happy with ourselves than don’t try to stop us because we are who we are. Also we should always stay confident and keep our head held high to show that we don’t care what other people have to say about us. It says “I lost my balance on these eggshells” which could mean that you fell because people kept telling you other things that you didn’t believe but you should always get up to show that you are stronger than just staying there on the ground. Again it says “we have no apologies for being, find me where the wild things are” meaning that we are not sorry for being ourselves.

    1. I also think that your message could be don't let other people judge you and control you and don't do what other people tell you to do if it doesn't make you happy. Your interpretation is really strong shows a lot of evidence to support it.

  9. Don’t go trying to be someone that you are not. From the song the “Wild Things” by Alessia Caras, there is a line that says “We don’t need your policies”, to me that meant “Let me be who I want to be.” Would you rather have two of the same person or two completely different people? In a line that says “We make our own rules” makes me think that if everything was the same, everything would be boring, but if you have differences in the world, everything would be more exciting, as if someone put some hot sauce in the mix of spices.

    1. I like your opinion, but I don't think that when she says "We make our own rules." She means that there needs to be differences in the world. I think she means that we don't don't need your rules or policies, We make our own. I do like your use of the differences as a metaphor for hot sauce. I think this interpretation is a strong one because you have good lines to prove your thoughts and feelings about the strong.

  10. In the song "Wild things" by Alessica Cara there are messages that we can apply to our own life. I think the main message is to not follow the crowd, and be your own person. In the song it says, " leave those empty chairs to those who say we can't sit there." To her the "cool" kids were not cool. We should go to the own beat of our drum. She says "we don't need your policies." She doesn't want to be like the "cool kids." We should all try and be our own person, And don't try to be someone your'e not.

    1. We should do what we enjoy doing in our life, and never try to be like anyone else. The only person that you are ever supposed to be is you. I think the interpretation of being your own person is a strong one because we all should live up to our individual full potential instead of anyone else's. By demonstrating that we don't need to be like the "cool kids" value is added to the message.

  11. The song “Wild Things’ provides us with a very positive message that we can apply to our own lives. The message that we can implement to our lives is that you need to be who you are and don’t change that about what other people might think about you. Another part of the possible message is that nobody is better than you and you are who you are. A line to support this is “The cool kids aren't cool to me, They're not cooler than we”. Another valid line of the song is “You tell me to tread, I'd rather be a wild one instead”. Overall, the song supports a very valuable message that we need to be who we are and, don't act different from who you are.

  12. The song “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara has a many lessons we can learn from it and all the lessons are great but there is one that I want to focus on. A few lines of lyrics express these lessons including “Let 'em sell what they are sellin', there are no buyers here” and “We don't care what they say no way, no way" these lines express that we shouldn’t listen to negative things others say about us. I believe this song tells you not to listen to what bullies say about how you are or how you look and that you should always be yourself no matter what. Overall this song is a great song that has great messages concealed in the lyrics and if you listen close enough you might just hear a thing or two that helps you get through the day.

    1. I think that the song is to be yourself and don't listen
to the people who don't believe in you and say negative comments. Be yourself and don't let others change you, and tell you how to live your life. I think that this the the massage because the the song in abound not listening to people who are trying to change you and staying away from the crowd. Like in the line that states "find your great" and " the cool kids aren't cool to me"

  13. The lesson is that don't be someone you're not just to fit in a group just be yourself and when someone is saying mean stuff to you just ignore them because it doesn't matter what they say because in the line when it says The cool kids aren't cool to me They're not cooler than we are it is saying that no one is better than anyone else. And when it say find your great don't hide your face everyone is equally and don't change who you are.

  14. I believe the possible message for the song "Wild Things" is to be who you want to be and it doesn't matter what people think. "Don't wanna hang around the in-crowd". That means, you don't have to do what everyone else does, you can do your own thing. "Find your great, don't hide your face". If there is something you like to do and it makes you happy, then go ahead and do it. It shouldn't matter who likes it or dislikes it. "We don't care what they say". That's saying how you shouldn't pay attention to what negative people have to say, you shouldn't let it have an impact on your life.

  15. Alessia Cara’s song ‘’ Wild Things ‘’ has a positive message written in the lyrics. This song talks about not forcing yourself to be accepted by society. You do you, no matter what other people think. ‘’Then leave us alone, ‘cause we don’t need your policies.’’ is a line from Alessia’s song. This line talks about you don’t need to act or dress a certain way to fit in with a group of people. Another line from her song is ‘’ Find you’re great, don’t hide your face’’. This line suggests that don’t hide your talents and that you are beautiful no matter what people may think.

  16. The possible message in the song "Wild Things" is to be yourself and don't let anyone tell you who to be. “We, make our own rules our own rooms no bias here.” That means they think of themselves as not followers but as their own person and a leader. The other possible message is show your true colors and don't try to be someone you are not. “Find your great, don't hide your face.” So they are saying show people who you really are.

    1. Great message Jeff! The line "We make our own rules our own rooms no bias here," really shows that you should be the ruler of yourself and not let anyone tell you how to be. The interpretation is very strong and the lines you used are excellent.

  17. The possible message of this song is to be yourself and don't let others control that and you can be the person you want to be. Their opinion shouldn't have any effect on who you truly are. Everyone is different in their own unique way and no one should be putting their differences down. The two lines that support my opinions are “Don't wanna hang around the in-crowd”, my second line to support my opinion is “No mistaken’, we make our breaks, if you don't like our 808s.” This is what my opinion of the song Wild Things by Alessia Cara is.

  18. I think the message of the "wild things" is that you don't need to follow the crowd. You make your own choices, and you have your own voice. The lines that support my perspective of the message are "cause we don't need your polices," and "carve our place into time and space." Because there essentially saying that We follow our own paths, we make our own mistakes, and we write our own stories. And that's what I think the message is for the song "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara.

We can write our own stories like you said and your interpretation of this song goes so well with the song. Good job Cassie!!!!!!!

  19. I think the song wild things by Alessia Cara is saying we shouldn't listen to people who judge you. You also shouldn't judge other people. Everyone is different in their own way. In the song it says "we don't care what they say no way, no way".So people shouldn't care what other people look like. Another lyric is "The cool kids aren't cool to me". The cool kids sometimes judge people and say bad things about you so you shouldn’t listen. So the song is saying what people say about you shouldn’t bring you down and you should block it out.

    1. The line "cool kids aren't cool to me" also means that you don't have to do what they're doing just because they're popular. Also, the line "we don't care what they say no way, no way" could also mean that people shouldn't care about what other people do, not just what they look like and that everyone will have their own opinion. This interpretation is a strong one because the lines make sense with the lesson they're trying to prove and this person also did a good job of explaining each line.

  20. The point of the song is to do what you want to do when you want to do it and not to let other people influence your decisions in life. The lyrics that support this are, (We don't care what they say no way, no way.) and also, (find table spaces, say your social graces.)

    2. Great job!! I understand that your interpretation of the song is that do what you want when you want and don't let people influence you decisions. This is strong interpretation because you are telling people to be themselves and don't let anyone tell them otherwise. You have a good line when you say "we don't care what they say no way no way" meaning don't care be yourself.

  21. To me, the message of the song "Wild Things" is we can get ourselves through anything. When we are going through a rough patch, we still have our dreams. We have our ambitions, aspirations and imaginations. We can do whatever we want, dreams don't have to stay dreams. One line from the song I believe proves this point is "We will find our way or we will make a way". The line is saying that even if the path to your dreams is not clear, its there and you will find it. It's saying that you can do whatever your heart desires and nobody can tell you differently. "Find you're great, don't hide your face." You can do it.

    1. Wow, Morgan! I love the interpretation you have of this song, it's a very unique outlook and you have solid evidence to support the message. I thought that the song was about not having to follow society. You always follow the big city crowd, you can be wild and “free".

  22. The meaning of the song is to be yourself around everyone. As well to be unique and proud in your own little way. Also don’t try to be someone you're not. Be yourself and NO ONE ELSE !.
Don't do what everyone else is doing if you want something go get it don't be afraid. And when someone doesn't like it keep going it not about them it about you. My supporting text is

We will carve our place into time and space
We will find our way, or we'll make a way (say hey, hey, hey)
Find you're great, don't you hide your face
Let it shine, shine, shine, shine, shine, shine

    And
So hey, we brought our drum and this is how we dance
No mistakin', we make our breaks, if you don't like our 808s
Then leave us alone, cause we don't need your policies
We have no apologies for being

    And

I lose my balance on these eggshells
You tell me to tread, I'd rather be a wild one instead
Don't wanna hang around the incrowd
The cool kids aren't cool to me
They're not cooler than we are

  23. I think the song “Wild Things “ is telling us that we are all different and that we should be proud of it. I think it is telling us this because it says “The cool kids aren’t cool to me their not cooler than we are”. It also tells us not strive to be socially accepted by others. The example of this is when it says “Then leave us alone,’cause we don’t need your policies”. Finally I believe it is telling us that we will find a way to make our mark on our own because it says “We will carve our place into time and space We will find our way”.

  25. There are a lot of possible messages that can be interpreted from the song Wild Things by Alessia Cara. “The cool kids aren’t cool to me” is a quote from the song that can have messages interpreted from it. One of these messages is that you shouldn’t follow the crowd and it’s okay to be different. “The cool kids” are usually kids that everyone likes or thinks are cool. When she says that they aren’t cool to her she is saying that it’s okay to be different and not like someone/something because everyone else does. Alessia Cara also said, “we’re fine all by ourselves” which is giving the message that you shouldn’t need anyone else and you shouldn’t care what others say.
