What could be a possible message from “Wild Things” that we could apply to our own lives? In other words, what advice might the song be trying to offer us? Be sure to include at least two lines from the song to support your conclusions (you may look back at the lyrics as often as you like).

  1. Be proud of yourself and be yourself. The singer says "The cool kids aren't cool to me. They're not cooler than we are". She's telling you not to let the "cool kids" force you into doing things. They are your peers, they are no better than you are. She also says "We're fine all by yourselves". You can be alone and do your thing, you don't have to be like others.

  2. The lesson we can learn from the song wild things is one we can use in life. This lesson is to always be yourself even if you are different. this lesson is supported by the line "The cool kids ain't cool to me. At least not cooler than we are." Another line that supports this is "We carve our own place in space and time."

    1. Nathan, good job, I fully agree with you that the message of the song is to be yourself. Your opening sentence was very good (Like an essay intro!), and good choice of lines. They explain the message well!

  3. One possible message of the song "Wild Things" is to be yourself and do your own thing. One line that supports my message is "Leave us alone 'cause we don't need your policies." This is saying if you don't like the way we do things, then we don't want you here. Another line that supports my message is "You tell me to tread, I'd rather be a wild one instead." This is saying she doesn't want to be in the group her friends think she should be in. She wants to find her own group that accepts her for who she is.

    1. It's true that you should be friends with people who accept you for who you are (You tell me to thread, I'd rather be the wild one instead). Your message is strong because I find that many people want to be someone else so that they can be accepted by their peers. I think it's time that people should be themselves and hangout with people who accept that. Your interpretation of the message brought light to that topic.

  4. The artist is trying to lend us valuable advice, that we as individuals shouldn't care a single bit about what people we don't trust say. The artist states "Then leave us alone, cause we don't need your policies." Obviously saying that we don't need your rules, and we can do what we want. Alessia Cara also sings "The cool kids aren't cool to me" meaning that people who are more "socially accepted" don't have to be to you.

  5. “Then leave us alone cause we don’t need your policies for being.” This is a line from the song wild things by Alessia Cara. This song is saying that you don’t need to apologize for the way you are, and that you should be proud of yourself. Nobody is perfect. We can incorporate this lesson into our lives everyday.“ I lose my balance on these eggshells. You tell me to tread, I’d rather be a wild one instead."

    1. I think your interpretation of the message is an extremely powerful one, because many people can relate to the message: To be who you are, and to not listen to what your peers tell you to be. The line from the song "Those cool kids aren't cool to me," is saying that some people might be socially accepted, but they don't have to be to you.

  6. A possible message from the song wild things is don't do what other people want you to do. You should do what you want to do. "The cool kids aren't cool to me." This is saying that just because people do things that they think are cool and you don't do those things doesn't make you not cool. "If you don't like our 808's then leave us alone." This is saying that you can be cool in your own way by doing things you think are cool and if they think your not cool tell them to leave you alone because at that point you aren't they are not being cool to you. Also that you are people are cool in there own way

  7. A possible message found in the lyrics of the song "Wild Things." by Alessia Cara could be to define yourself and not change to fit in. For example, a supporting line in the lyrics says "But you and I, we're pioneers, we make our own rules.". This is referring to the message of being yourself and to not try to be like someone else. Another line in the song reads "We don't care what they say, no way, no way,". This is convincing readers to not care what other people think. These two lines offer evidence that being yourself and not changing to fit in is a main message in the song "Wild Things.".

  8. A message everyone can learn from “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara is that you should embrace yourself the way you are and you don’t need to be like everyone else. The line “Find your great don’t you hide your face let it shine” from “Wild Things” supports that message. The line is talking about embracing yourself the way you are. The line shows us not to hide who we are be proud of who we are. Another line from “Wild Things” that supports the message is “ we don’t need your policies we have no apologies for being”. That line shows you don’t need to be like everyone else. You don’t need to follow everyone's policies. It also shows you should be happy with the way you are. You don’t need to have apologies for being yourself. So, the message of “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara is to be yourself and embrace who you are.

  9. The song “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara is trying to teach us to be ourselves, and not change for anyone or anything. In the song she says “And we will leave the empty chairs to those who say we can’t sit there.” What she is saying in that line is that if someone tells you that you can’t sit next to them don’t change who you are so that person will like you. Be proud of who you are and don’t be someone who you are not. She also says “Then leave us alone, ‘cause we don’t need your policies we have no apologies for being.” That is saying don’t be sorry for being who you are, and don’t listen to anyone who tells you to change that. It is okay to be different.

  10. In the song “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara, there are many possible lessons. I feel one of them is that we should live life by our own rules, being ourselves, and not letting what other people think or say about us get to our self-esteem and destroy it. One line from the song that supports that is “Then leave us alone, ‘cause we don’t need your policies / We have no apologies for being." This line fundamentally states that we don’t need other’s opinions about us and that we have no need to apologize for living life and being ourselves. Another line is “We will carve our place into time and space / We will find our way or we’ll make a way." That line is telling us that we can make (“carve”) our own life in our own way or we still find a way to do what we want if we have the will.

    1. Great job! I completely agree. The song is about being okay with being who you are and that being different is okay. There are many examples of this through out like when she says "we don't care what they say".

  11. I think the message in the song "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara is to be confident in who you are. In no way should you try to change your individuality to fit in. A lyric from the song says "Don't wanna hang around the in-crowd" and "The cool kids aren't cool to me". You should hang out with people who make you feel content with yourself. You don't need to be friends with popular people to make you feel happy. Another lyric is "We brought our drum and this is how we dance". I think this lyric is trying to say to keep your head held high and stay confident no matter what people say. Show the bullies that they can't bring you down.

    1. I strongly agree with your message. Especially when you used the lines. "Don't wanna hang around the in-crowd" and "the cool kids aren't cool to me". It really proves your point about how you don't have to sacrifice your personality in order to be accepted by the cool kids. And how to keep your head held up high no matter what.

  12. Wild things, by Aleissa Cara shows a couple of messages throughout the song that are quite powerful. One that stood out to me is to be yourself. No matter what people say, don't change and open up to your wild side. I think this because there are lines in the song like "I'd rather be a wild one instead" and "We don't care what they say" which embodies the message of being yourself and not changing the way you are no matter what. Another message is that you don't have to be like everyone else, you are your own person. I saw this message being expressed in lines like "Don't wanna hang around the in-crowd" and "we don't need your policies".

  13. A possible message that this song might be offering is to be confident of who you are and be yourself. In the song it says, “No mistakin’, we make our brakes, if you don't like our 808s then leave us alone, ‘cause we don't need your policies” which shows that you're not making a mistake by being yourself and you don't need to let others change how you feel about yourself. Also in the song it says, “We have no apologies for being” which shows that you don't have to be sorry for who you are. This song shows that you shouldn't let others influence the way you are.

    1. Shreya your interpretation of the song is very similar to mine. I believe that she is saying being yourself is not a crime it is a beautiful thing to think of yourself as special or original. 14. One possible message from the song “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara that we can apply to our own lives is that you shouldn’t let others get to you. I say this because Alessia Cara sings “ we have no apologies for being.” This lyric is telling the listeners that you should be okay with the person you are and not apologize for it. Another lyric that tells you that what other people say about you doesn’t matter is “ if you don’t like our 808s then leave us alone, we don’t need your policies.” I chose this lyric because it’s saying if someone doesn’t like the things you’re doing doing then they can find someone else because they don’t need you. You should not care what other people think of you and Alessia Cara’s “Wild Things” can help you realize that.

  15. I think the message of the song is that you don't have to be like the cool kids, just be yourself. The supporting line is, "The cool kids aren't cool to me." 16. One line that stood out to me in the lyrics of the song Wild Things was, "Then leave us alone cause we don't need your policies." I believe it is saying we won't be around people who don't let us be who we want to be. We don't want to follow by your their rules, we make our own.
Another line that also spoke to me was "we're fine all by ourselves." I believe it's saying nobody needs people in our lives that don't appreciate you for who you truly are, we are better of being alone. If you won't respect me don't be around me. Both of these lines are saying I'm fine without you, I can survive on my own.

  17. In the song “Wild Things” a message is to not care what people are saying. In the song it says “We don’t care what people say no way, no way.” If other people don’t care what other people say then why should you care what they should you care about what they say. They aren’t you so they don’t know you more than you know you. In the song it also say “Find me where the wild things are,” repeatedly. A message you could get from this line is to be yourself. She could be wild or very enthusiastic, she is near other people who are wild or enthusiastic, hence the “Find me where the wild things are.”

  18. A possible message from "Wild Things" by Alessia Clare is that you should live by your own rules and that you don't have to stick to what everyone else does. One example from the text of the song is the line, "Let 'em sell what they are sellin', there are no buyers here." This line shows that the author is saying that other people can try to get you to do what they want, but you don't have to do what they want you to do, and you should do whatever you want to do instead. Another example from the text that proves my theme is the line, "We will find our way, or we'll make a way." This line shows that the author of the song is saying to find a better way to do things than what other people want you to do, or make your own way. In other words, this line is saying to do your own thing, whether you have to find your own thing by using someone else's way, or by making your own way. Based on my evidence from the song, I conclude that the theme of this song is to live by your own rules and that you don't have to stick to whatever everyone else is doing.

    1. I agree about the fact that you shouldn't do what others tell you to do. Being yourself and playing by your own rules is what you should stick to because that is more important than what others think. Using the line "We will find our way, or we'll make a way." Let others do what they choose to but you following their footsteps won't help. Be unique and true to yourself because that is one of the best policy.

  19. "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara

In the song, “Wild Things”, by Alessia Cara, there is a main message in the song that she is trying to tell. What I think Alessia is trying to tell me is to stand true to what you believe in no matter the circumstances. It does not matter if you are the only one in the entire universe to believe your stand as long as you are confident. In the lyrics of, “Wild Things”, by Alessia Cara, it said, “... But you and I are pioneers, we make our own rules…” and also, “ ...We don't care what they say, no way…” It is wrong to judge yourself or your opinions based on how many people believe it. Do not change your opinions for anyone else. That is what I think the message of the song, “Wild Things”, by Alessia Cara is about.

  20. A piece of advice or message the song "Wild Things" has to offer us, that we can apply to our own lives is to be comfortable with expressing yourself. The line "this is how we dance” shows that we can express ourselves the way we want to. Dance is traditionally and culturally something people do to express themselves and their feelings. “We have no apologies for your policies” is another line in the song that could mean that no one has to apologize for “dancing”, for expressing themselves even if it's against the general population’s (society’s) policies, judgments, or stereotypes.

  22. The song "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara offers us great advice through it's lyrics. One example is in the line, "I lose my balance on these eggshells, you tell me to tread, I'd rather be a wild one instead. " This line tells us that we should be ourselves and don't pretend to be someone that you aren't. Don't do what other people tell you to do just to fit in with a certain group of people. Just be yourself, and you'll feel better about yourself. Another way this song gives us great advice is in the line, "The cool kids aren't cool to me, they're not cooler than we are." The advice given here is that we shouldn't let other people control you and make you think that they are at a higher level than you are. In reality, everyone is at the same level and no matter what they say or what they try to do, you shouldn't be afraid them or even try to be like them. All you have to do is remember that everyone is at the same level as everyone else and nobody is above you. These are the pieces of advice that I think the song " Wild Things " are teaching us.

  23. I think the song “Wild Things” by Alessia Cara has many different meanings/messages but one big message that stood out to me is being yourself, being unique and not letting people control you. Nowadays many students are either being bullied or are “faking their identity” (trying to be someone they’re not) just to fit in with a certain group of kids. There is a saying that says “No one will remember what jeans you wore 30 years from now, which is completely true. You can’t worry about what other people think about you, you do you. There is going to be some tough decisions that you will need to make, those decisions will reveal your true friends. As Alessia Cara writes “So hey, we brought our drum and this is how we dance, no mistakin’ we make our breaks, if you don’t like our 808s then…” Don’t be afraid to dance to the beat of your own drum, you’ll be happy you did.

    1. Wow. This is actually really powerful, I never really thought about what would matter thirty years from now. It really doesn't matter what people think of you, and if you have children you want to tell them that you were happy in your school years not that you had to be fake just so you could be 'normal' and get by with the popular kids. You shouldn't have to blend in amongst other students, you can stand out and show your true colors so you don't have to stress about what others think of you, you already have enough stress and anxiety with homework, tests and class assignments as is.

  24. Many people doubt themselves everyday. They feel they're not good enough. The song "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara gives us an idea, that you shouldn't change for anyone who is in your way, and be you for you. One line in the song that represents changing for no one is, "Then leave us alone, 'cause we don't need your policies. We have no apologies for being." A second line in the song that relates to the message of being yourself is, "Find you're great, don't hide your face. Let it shine, shine, shine, shine, shine, shine." So, in general, the song "Wild Things" is telling us to be ourselves and change for nobody.

  25. The True Meaning of ”WIld Things”
Songs were always meant to teach, inspire, educate and relate to the people who listen. Usually when someone listens to a song they interpret it in a different way. The song “Wild Things” preaches the true meaning of being yourself, being the person life wanted you to be, you can interpret that from one of the lines in the song ”Let it shine, shine, shine, shine, shine, shine”. Another line form this song “Find your great, don't hide your face”, this line supports my message because it advises listeners to show their true selves and not to shun your true self. Be yourself, and don't let others bring you down, this is the message of the song.
