What public issue from our society do you wish people would
wake up and understand the way that you do?
In one paragraph:
● describe the issue as you see it,
● provide specific details from at
least one online source where you found evidence to prove the existence of the
issue and
● copy and paste the url of your
source(s) at the end of your paragraph.
Suicide, and Cancer Both serious things that many adults and children joke about even though many children and adults have it. The number people with cancer, and who have commited suicide each year are 12.7 million people for cancer, and approximately one million yet people still decide to humerize themselves with jokes about it.When people joke about suicide or cancer, suicide especially, your only making others who want to commit suicide and that have cancer feel worse but until you put yourself in their shoes, you’ll never know. Many people need to grow up and realize that everywhere in the world is someone with these problems;and when you have the audacity to joke about a matter this big, you’re only making it worse for yourself and others.
ReplyDeleteGun shop owners don´t think twice before giving a gun to kid who is 21 or a mental person. that´s why they should ban guns so there would not be any more public shootings. just imagine what would happen if there no more guns in america only police had guns to protect us no more public shootings no more being threatened of being shot at by a gun. what do think should happen no guns yes to guns.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean but it is not as simple as it seems. Lots of young mass and school shooter steal their guns from family or parents. And the shooters that are grown like you said a lot of them own their guns or at least maturity. And you can buy a long gun or rifle after the age of 18 without license, which is a big problem with all these mass shootings. Stephen Paddock a shooter who had stored his guns in a hotel room.He was later found to own 33 out of his 49 hand guns and rifles kept in the hotel.I believe that their should be a much more safe check with the persons mental health before they get their license.
DeleteDid you know that Men appear four times as much as women do? They also have seven times the amount of speaking roles. I didn't even realize the gender inequality in sports until I had a game two years ago. Almost three times the amount if people showed up theirs than ours. The biggest difference is their salaries women make about $72,000 in basketball. When it comes to men it is about $5,000,000 in basket ball. When it comes to scholarships in sports male athletes get $179,000,000 more in athletic scholarships each year than women do. Only about 33% of funds go to female athletes. Some people in the world say that women sports aren't as intriguing as men's sports. The only sport women make a lot of money in is tennis

Bullying is a major issue by itself, but when you take that online when it can happen for hours on end that's even worse.
ReplyDeleteOnline bullying has been happening ever since the first social interaction site was created. Since then the internet has grown and now it can happen almost everywhere. It is reported that seven percent of kids that go to high school tried to commit suicide or succeeded. Cyber bullying happens everywhere from snap-chat to pubg anything where you can talk to or text another person cyber bullying is happening. What worse is that thirty percent of children in middle school committed self harm because of this. As you can see cyber bullying is a big problem in the world and it needs to stop.

I think you are completely right. I believe that things like online games can go on for multiple hours where kids and teens can be getting destroyed mentally over and over again. And I even feel that the kids causing the problem might not even know it. They might be making a kid feel bad about themselves when they think they are just having fun. And if another kid doesn't speak on how they feel it might be impossible for someone to know when it is enough.
DeleteAn article on medicalnewstoday.com says that between 5 and 8 percent of adolescents attempt suicide each year. And it is heavily affected by social media and gaming.
I agree, bullying/Cyber bullying is a real broblem half the people that get bullied get despression, and half the people who have depression kill themselves. The line"Since then the internet has grown and now it can happen almost everywhere. It is reported that seven percent of kids that go to high school tried to commit suicide or succeeded." really realates too what I said earlier.

ReplyDeleteSmoking is an epidemic which means more and more people each year gets added to the 1billion people smoking worldwide. Thats about 20% of the world's population. You may think "what can go wrong?" Well, there is a long list of negative symptoms. Here are some of them.
All cigaretts include addiction (not being able to stop smoking when started), health probems, and social issues. Nicotine is the main chemical used in cigaretts and it is highly addictive. It kills many people around the world. About 480,000 people die each year due to nicotine. If a kid is exposed to even 10mg of it (there is about 10mg of nicotine per gigarette), it is leathal and could kill them.
Another effect of smoking is gaining healt problems. Smoking harms almost every organ in the body. It mostly effects the lungs in a negative way. It inflames lugs which can lead to Emphysema (A lung disease most commonly caused by cugarretts). Cigaretts break aveoli which causes Emphysema and risks causing cancer. All of these can be/are fatal.
People need to wake up and realize that cigaretts kill thousands of peoply year-round. This is not only a profit for the government (Makes $8 million a year from cigarett funds) but on the other hand, leads to many deaths.
Inequality and racism are similar. For example, take a look at football superstar Colin Kaepernick. On September 1, 2016,CK kneeled because he wasn't going to stand up for a country that oppresses black people. I don't know about you, but I respect what he did. It was time for someone to show that people still see different rights between colored people and white people. He got a lot of backlash for doing that but he still stood up for what he did. If a White athlete did that, then they're going to talk about for a week or so, but then they're going to let it slide because they think to themselves that it's freedom of speech. Why can't the NFL apply that rule to colored people like Colin Kaepernick? And it's not just black people. It's other common offended ethnicities. People like Asians, South American and other races...also religion. If you want to help, stand up for people. Don’t offend them or make lousy jokes about it. When we do that, we can make the world a better place.

Do you wish the world would wake up and realize that the earth and world itself is falling apart? Or how about the people on this planet waking up and seeing that the world around them is tearing open at the seams? Most people in this world wake up and think its a lovely day but really it's not. Most of our world is either dying or in danger and no one sees it but if they do they don't say anything.I’m so tired of people in this world saying there gonna do something to make the earth a better place. You expect them to do more for the world because what their doing isn't enough and then they do nothing at all to help make the world a better place. When there’s young children and teens all over the world making a difference, yet a grown person can't do anything at all to help!? Now don't get me wrong not all grown people do nothing, but most of them don't and it upsets me that teens and even children can do something to make the world a better place but grown adults can't? I want to know why they won't? In 2015 a 5 year old named Sophie Cruz was told she and her family were being deported. When 5 year old Sophie was told that she took matters into her own hands. She had written a letter to the Pope at her church with a drawing and on the drawing in spanish it said, ‘’my friends and I love each other no matter the skin color.”By 2017 the now 6 year old spoke in front of a big group and hoped she could change something yet she did she started fighting for the families movement since then she's helped a lot of people.Yea, a five year old girl helped the world so much during that time, but a grown person can’t contribute at all I think that's unfair and ridiculos. Now I'm speaking up help make the world a better place.

I agree that most people should step up and make a change but, they still sit around watching others do great things. You may have heard someone in your house say "'it is what it is,'" but "if us students have learned anything, it's that if you don't study, you will fail,"-Emma González.
DeleteIt's true people need to step up and make a change or you'll sit there in failure looking for changes.

Logan, I agree with you. Football is not a dangerous sport. You provided enough detail to make my opinion easier. My favorite line in your writing was, " Yeah you see all these big hits in the NFL or College but are they really happening before or during High school No!". My opinion is Yes football is not dangerous!I hope you enjoy reading my comment!
ReplyDeleteI agree that plastic waste is harmful to the environment. Not only 1 million seabirds and 100,00 sea animals die from plastic pollution, 267 species are known to suffer and most likely more animals suffer from this problem, and yet plastic production continues to rise. People need to see realize how plastic affects animals and the environment.

Air pollution is caused by harmful substances like particles, gases, and biological molecules being released into the air. These substances damage the ecosystem and the built environment.
ReplyDeleteAir pollution also hurts animals and humans. It causes allergies, diseases, and deaths. It has caused 4.6 million deaths per year.
Air pollution is definitely a problem that needs to be fixed in order to keep the earth and humanity thriving.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your point, Will. Chocolate does have much more added sugars and calories than plain milk, thus, making it more unhealthy. In fact, Chocolate milk has about 14 more grams of sugar and 10 extra calories in a 240mL bottle. The consumption of all of this sugar can lead to sugar rushes and hyperactivity. Chocolate milk also leads to obesity and cancer. Plain milk also includes double the amount of nutrients than chocolate milk, making plain milk the better option.
I agree completely, children and young adults should be less attached to screens. When small children get hook on devices like iPads, and smartphones can unintentionally cause permanent damage to their still-developing brains. Also people are becoming lazier and lazier just because they want to continue watching their show. These devices I believe are filling our every need it doesn’t matter if we’re hungry or need to do homework they fool our brains into thinking that they are all we need. So yes Lauren I agree with you.

In 2018 it was reported that 113 people died from school shootings. The year of 2018 is also stated to be the year with the highest amount of incidents involving school shootings. Knowing these facts, I fully agree with your stand.

I agree that if we work together we can save the animals affected by plastic waste. Humans use so many disposable products every day. Each year about 20 billion plastic bottles are thrown away; if we start replacing the disposable items with reusable items there will be a lot less plastic in the oceans. People can also do many other things to stop the flow of plastic waste; cook more, bring your own bags to the store, stop buying unnecessary plastic products, and there are so many more ways to prevent plastic waste.
ReplyDeleteI agree kidster lol, pollution is a serious problem, and people should band together to help stop it. But not a lot of people understand WHY pollution is such a problem. Maybe if we explain to them what’s happening, and show them some data tables, they’ll help us stop pollution. I, for one, know I don’t want my children to grow up in a world looking like earth in Wall-e. If we don’t stop pollution, that’s where we’re headed, and they don’t understand that. For example, I found a study online saying that nearly 8 million people per year die early from coming into contact with air pollution. Clearly, if so many people die yearly from this, it’s got to be a garmageddon sized problem. This is why I’m so worried about pollution and I really do hope that humans band together soon to help end this problem (threat to human kind).

I agree with LillyS. According to the National netwark for youth it says that: National estimates have found that 1.3 to 1.7 million youth experience one night of homelessness a year with 550,000 youth being homeless for a week or longer.
ReplyDeleteI agree, most people like to make fun of him but he is acctualy smart I liked when when you used the precent sign "3.3% of the U.S. population is illegal immigrants".
ReplyDeleteI agree with your stand. Not many people think twice before littering or crimating things. Which releases toxins into the air causing said acid rain, and killing animal life. I really liked your line"From plastic to gas, we pollute the Earth whether we know it or not."
ReplyDeleteI agree with your stand on child suffering. The way most adults and teenagers are so used to demanding respect they don't think how much that person has gone through. the line"Adults, or even teenagers often look down on children, or believe that they deserve more respect because they have been through more than that child" really shows that even adults can be stupid from time to time
ReplyDeleteI agree, most children joke about serious stuff like this and I agree with the line"Depression mostly happens in adulthood, but it can still affect you at any age. Not many people take this into consideration, thinking that it can't or couldn't have affected them as a kid. If you think someone you know is depressed then you should talk to them about it, and be there to comfort them." Cause most people kill themselves due to there overwhelming depression.
