Earlier in the year, you researched a societal problem of your choice.  You should have lots of proof, in the form of statistics and/or examples, that the problem is fairly recent and can be traced back through history.

In one paragraph:

  • explain what the societal problem is, and
  • provide some proof that the problem exists (you should have way more information in your notes than you can fit in a paragraph).

  1. Sexism you may think that it is not a problem because women can work and both sexes are treated equally. This is incorrect though because on average men get 666% longer prison sentences than women. Men are also more likely to die at a job than women. Women are sometimes paid only about 80% what men make. A women is 63% less likely to be charged with a crime than a man. Women have almost no chance of being hired for a job involving physical work. Women in basketball get paid around 0.7% of what men get payed.

    2. I love how you included male inequality to show how this isn't just female inequality going on! A possible solution to this could be to have the gender anonymous when being arrested or applying for jobs. This way there could be no gender bias when the decisions are made.

    3. A solution could be to educate people on gender equality and pass laws to make pay and prison sentences not influenced by gender.

    4. I think that women need to be payed equal to men, since they only get paid about 80% of what a man earns, but do the same amount of work. We are not second class citizens, and do not deserve to be treated that way. A possible solution could be passing new laws and regulations to make it illeagal for a women to be underpayed compared to a man under the same occupation. Women could also raise awareness and boycott this unfaireness. It is important that people's eligibility and pay for a job is not influenced by gender. It could also be made that any company, or place offering a job, but does not comply to giving equal pay to women will get consequences from the government.

  2. Homophobia, a strong word. Something that we didn’t recognize until it actually affected people’s lives. Homophobia is a phobia and that is all, no one should take the lives of others because they are simply scared of that thing. Henry Rollins once said “don’t hide behind the constitution or the bible. If you are against gay marriage, just be honest, put a scarlet ‘H’ on your shirt, and say ‘I am a homophobe’”. In the BC’s people started to feel “attacked” by the amount of gay people starting to pop up in that time period. But, now a days it’s way worse than we can ever imagine. On June 12th 2016 Omar Mateen went to the Pulse Night Club in Orlando, Florida. He shot and killed 49 gays and left 53 others in critical condition some said it was an act of terrorism others said that it was simply a hate crime against LGBTQ participants. The first ever act of homophobia was in 529 BC when the romans stated that if any person were to take part in any homosexual act, they would be executed. This societal problem has killed over a dozen people each year, either because of a murder or because of suicide.

    2. Organizations such as the LGBT work together to help people who like the same gender. This helped people show who they really are without being judged and hated by others who feel that it is not right to be the way they are.

    3. One solution to this problem is to pay attention to how these people are being treated in the world. We should encourage more people to speak up against this mistreatment.

  3. One societal problem is pollution everyone is a cause of pollution from your mom driving you to school to you mowing the lawn. Pollution is a big problem and if we don't try to fix it we could end up wearing gas masks all day and all night. Their are tons of fish dying everyday because of water pollution. Birds die all the time because we don’t dispose of trash properly, we throw plastic on the ground and some animal chokes on it. There is even a floating island in the ocean twice the size of Texas made of trash. We need to start cleaning up the Earth.

    1. One solution could be to make stricter laws about pollution and make it illegal to dump trash and toxic waste into certain aquatic ecosystem.

    2. Pollution could be solved by switching to cleaner energy sources, but that could be expensive, so that isn't the route that people are willing to take even though it is effective. We could even make stricter recycling laws so that trash doesn't end up on streets.

    3. Pollution could be solved by switching from fossil fuel fueled trains and cars to trains and cars that run on hydropower, solar energy and or wind power.

    4. A good solution to stop the dumping of trash onto our planet is to not make the trash in the first place. Harmful materials and non-biodegradable plastics that end up polluting Earth could be used less or banned. We should deal with this problem as soon as possible or it will get worse and worse until it is irremediable.

  4. Trash has been a problem forever. Where are you supposed to put it? On land, in the water, maybe disintegrate it? Everywhere we place it is causing a different problem. In London 1858 the people got a taste of what would happen if they tried to turn a river into a dumping ground for trash. This is known as the “Great Stink”. The Thames river flows straight through London. It became a place of disposal for industrial and human waste. Which made the city smell horrible. In the early 1800’s the river was clean and London’s population grew. This however made more sewage and they didn’t know what to do with it. Later the river drinking water got contaminated. This made people sick with many diseases, Cholera killed more than 40,000. People who even drank the water would have to get their stomachs pumped. Eventually in 1957 after many efforts to help the river it was declared “biologically dead”.

    1. Good job, Carleigh! One solution that might work is if trash was thrown out in small amounts, with a closed off area in the water. Some trash could go on land, while some could go in water so that we can keep the amount of trash in each area maintained.

      Delete
    2. A soluion could be reusing trash that can be reused, and composting organic material to help grow more trees. We can also have a place in the state that we go to, where people sort out the trash into catagories, and we do what is best for the environment with them. This way we can regulate trash that goes to landfills, insead of everyone throwing out unneeded things.

      Delete
    3. A possible solution could be that the government(s) (ones around the world) could attempt to set quotas on how much trash each person can throw out every year based on things like maybe their age and job or something similar. To enforce this, governments could then illegalize throwing away certain things, like plastic, in certain areas, like a field or meadow outside; they could also keep track of what/how much people throw away and fine someone if they go way over their trash quota or if they throw away something that's perfectly recyclable. Great job!

    4. First of all, I can validate that the Thames River was extremely dirty, as I have been to London twice! A solution to this issue could be to create laws to restrict people from wasting things that are still useful. Every year people throw out 40% of the food they make, as they go rotten or dislike it. This goes along with my claim saying that you should only take what you need in life. Don't be selfish and throw away useful things!

  5. My societal problem is overpopulation. Overpopulation is not only about the amount of space we have to live in, it's the fact that if more people are on this earth there will be less resources for everyone. Already every one in nine people don't have enough food to survive. Every second three baby are born while only two people die. The supply and demand will change and everyone will end up in poverty.

    1. I can offer a solution, produce more food. producing more food would create more jobs to be taken by people. If there is more food available than price would drop making it more affordable.

    3. Considering that a lot of the overpopulation statistics occur in third world countries, I recommend that we ship supplies/food via cargo plane to those areas on a regular basis. People within those countries constantly starve and shipping food there would definetly help. I also believe we should teach people within those countries on how to farm efficiently so they wont have to rely on industrial countries as much.

    4. One solution that has been tried before is population control, specifically only allowing parents to have a certain amount of children. Although it isn't 100% humane as parents should be allowed to have as many children as they want, it is a good idea to enforce the point that overpopulation is a problem and action needs to be taken in some way, shape, or form. Great paragraph, Danielle!

  6. Today in society pollution is a big problem that will affect animals and human life. Many of the pollution problems that the world has come from China. For example China has became the highest producer of sulfur dioxide and CO2 and most of this comes from human sources. Pollution is choking cities with smog and poor air quality like Beijing, Karachi, Pakistan, and Los Angeles, California. Air pollution from China has caused acid rain to fall on Japan, South korea and even the United states feels the impact of China's air pollution. That's why everyone needs to help fix pollution.

    1. One possible solution to the giant probelm of pollution might be cutting down on industrialization; if people stop building factories and start cutting down on the number of factories already built, this could reduce the amount of carbon being produced. Along with this, planting more trees, and other plants to help cut down on the carbon dioxide already in our environment.

    2. Pollution is a huge problem in our society. Tons of people and wildlife are affected by it. One solution could be to stop factories from producing their products once a week, this will lower the amount of pollution in the air and help the world and wildlife in the long run.

    3. A solution to reduce the number of effects from pollution is to show people the result of it. Many places on Earth have already been devastated by pollution such as Ranipet, India. The groundwater there is incredibly contaminated, that the water feels like insect bites.

    4. I think that pollution is a problem that can easily be avoided if we stopped manufacturing so many of our everyday products. 7. My societal problem is gender inequality. This problem had existed for a long time, since bible time, yet this issue still is around today. There is a gender pay gap. Women earn 80% of what men make, but every state is different. In New York the pay gap is 89% and in Wyoming it’s 64%. Women earn less mainly because they do a “second shift” of being mother. Many times women are the only ones caring for a child and the father doesn’t do much.

  8. The societal problem I chose was obesity. Obesity has been around for many years. People started viewing obesity as a major health problem in the 12th century. That means that obesity has been a problem that means we have had obesity for almost a millennium. If that isn’t enough in 2015, 48% of states in America had an obesity rate of over 30%. Finally, America is in the top 15 most obese countries in the world. America is ranked #12. That means there are 11 more countries in the world that have an obesity rate higher than 36.2%.

    1. Limiting fast food and soda drinks can only go so far. They are contributors, but not the sole cause of obesity. Promoting more exercise for children and adults will have a big effect if we add it to the fast food and soda recommended limits.

    2. People have already tried to cut down obesity rates with higher taxes on unhealthy products, and this hasn’t been effective towards cutting down obesity rates. Instead, people could adopt healthy eating habits such as drinking non-fat milk, using vegetable based oils and consuming low or no fat versions of food. Making substitutions like these could go a long way.

      Delete
    3. I think the best solution to this problem is education. If children are educated about what they should eat, they are less likely to be obese. I think parents could benefit from education as well, because parents are teach their kids, and can actively limit the household supply of sweets. Children of obese parents are most likely to be obese themselves.

The main act of terrorism people remember is 9-11 when over 3,000 innocent people were murdered by the terrorist group Al Qaeda, but it has gone on forever. John brown in the late 1800’s attacked an armoury which many say was the start of American terrorism. Terrorism has also happened in more recent times with the paris attacks or Isis in Syria. Terrorism is everywhere and it’s a major problem.

  10. Have you ever seen people backing up from two people of the same gender holding hands or being looked down upon? Do you see other people watching gay couples with a pinch of fear in their eyes? Yep, that’s homophobia, the fear of gays and lesbians. But it’s not just them staying away from these innocent people, it’s trying to get rid of them. Unspeakable actions are done to the LGBT community and that is what we need to raise awareness about and stop. Let’s take a look in Uganda, East Africa where the government wishes to make Uganda a heterosexual country. In October 2009, the Anti-Homosexuality Bill was passed. This was presented by Hon. David Bahati who said “Ugandans have been anxiously waiting for this Bill. This day will be good day for all Ugandans.” The ones who go against the government are severely punished. On September 25, 2011, took place the correction or rape of lesbians. The government's excuse was “It was done to correct them.” Then later in October, a newspaper came out with the headline of “Hang Them!” with pictures of LGBT Ugandans. All of this isn’t correction but torture. Torture for innocent beings who wish to live their own lives and be free.

  11. You’ve heard of abortion, right? It’s a big debate in this day and age. There is two sides to abortion; the pro life and the pro choice. I am the pro life of the debate (against abortion) because abortion is morally wrong. Why, you might ask? Well, for one; It’s murder. No matter the reason it’s killing an innocent life. Another thing is, planned parenthood is run by margaret sanger, a woman who supports eugenics...the destruction of ethnic races. Want to know who created eugenics? The Nazi. It is also reported that women that get abortions have a higher risk of breast cancer! Another thing is fetuses actually feel the pain of the abortion. Later in life, women tend to regret the abortion, it leaves an effect on them after they realize what they have done. The federal unborn victims of violence act says that anyone that kills an unborn baby shall be punished, it says the baby is human. And, adoption rates have gone down a whole ton. Abortionists actually believe that the fetus is already human in many ways! So, in conclusion, abortion is a problem that should be stopped.

    2. Although I agree that abortion is morally wrong and something I would never take part in, women should be able to have that choice of having one or not as long as it's within a certain range of days since impregnation. This allows for the fetus to be less developed, maybe feeling less pain; laws should be created, allowing abortion, only if it's within a certain number of days since impregnation and if a woman tries to have an abortion multiple times, we should also limit the number of abortions a woman can have to one (for example). Also, one could try to illegalize abortion, but increase the adoption centers, so that the mothers can leave the child if it's really necessary but the child still has a chance in the world.

That’s exactly how homophobia makes homosexuals feel. Except, they cannot dye away their problems. There’s nothing they can do to change the way they are. Homosexuality isn’t a modern thing. Homosexuality (and homophobia) has existed for centuries. Leonardo Da Vinci (1452 - 1519) was gay. So was Michelangelo (1475 - 1564). William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616) admitted to being bisexual in his Sonnet 144, but society was so close minded that the pronouns he used were revised from male to female. Acceptance is getting more and more widespread, and more people are tolerant. However, not everyone agrees upon homosexuality. July 12th, 2016, the Orlando nightclub shooting took place. This trauma killed 46 people, and wounded 53. People died because they weren’t accepted. I believe you should be able to love who you love, and there's nothing you should have to do to change that.

The Coast line is getting flooded because the Arctics are melting. Due to global warming, category 3 storms can turn into category 4 storms. People usually die because of these storms. When the police return your child to you later, they explain to you that they were kidnapped. How could have this happened? You think to yourself. Thousands of children go missing every year, whether it is from a runaway or throwaway, or if they were in a stereotypical or family abduction. In 1999, 58,200 children were part of non-family abduction and 203,000 were in a family abduction. Do you ever get a loud alert on your phone that says a child has gone missing at a certain location? That is called the AMBER alert system. It was named after a girl named Amber Hagerman who was kidnapped and killed in 1996. AMBER stands for “America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response”. It is responsible for the safe recovery of 723 children in 1997. Though, 99.8% of children do eventually return home, it is still a problem we should be cautious about because you never know what could happen.

  17. Have you ever been subject to police misconduct. The effects of police misconduct alone can cause extreme feelings of fear, humiliation, distrust of government, and policemen and inflicts trauma on victims and families. Police misconduct is becoming all the more uniform it's occurring in county jails, police cruisers, state jails, and most of all the streets. Some of the reasons it's becoming more and more common is because of poor training, pressure to get convictions, sloppiness, bad judgement, and usually racism. For example, on november the 19th of 2001 SIRT Greg Rutherford held a 12 gauge shotgun with cloth cased shots which was trained on an unarmed mentally disturbed man who followed commands to drop his weapons. SIRT Greg Rutherford then came under pressure leaving the unarmed man with one eye, a fractured skull, and suffered severe brain damage. In conclusion, do you think that this problem can be solved through more pinpointed training, background checks, physiological testing, recruit training, and in-service training for seasonal officers and officers on duty. Do you believe that if SIRT Greg Rutherford was exposed to these excellent programs a unarmed man might have been able to attend rehabilitation for his mental disabilities, avoided brain damage and still have two eyes to look through?

These all should be tighter rules, not all cops are this bad, but the fact there are cops that bad makes you question the trust of any cop.

    2. I think the if police wore cameras they would be more aware of their actions. I believe in some states this is being done to supervise police officers. I hope this solution might help you.

      Delete
    3. I believe that we should educate the people more then the police. Its understandable that police fear for their life constantly and by educating citizens on how to respond when confronted by police will lower the likelihood of police retaliation. People should be able to listen to cops and follow their directions carefully and correctly rather than panic, panicking can definetly scare a cop which could result in irresponsible actions.

    4. We must protest after every incident of police brutality near us. More and more people will recognize the inhumane actions done by the police and the police even may acknowledge this, and their actions may subside. We need to take legal action as well. If the police keep on getting sued for brutality they’ll be forced to deal with the issue. Every incident of police brutality should be reported to both the government. The media should also be aware of this.

  18. Human greed leads to many unpleasant things in this world, all working for the same goal. Money. Money is the root of all things that humans want and some people will go to extremes to get it. Animal abuse can be an easy way for someone to get cash an example of that would be dog fighting. In 2007 Michael Vick an NFL player was convicted for running an underground dog fighting operation. Without proper medical attention the dogs would either die in the fight or later succumb to their injuries, dog fighters will often crop their dogs in cruel and inhumane ways. (Cropping is getting rid of or reducing the size of a certain dog breeds body parts so the other dogs can’t grab onto anything.) If a dog won a fight the owner could earn anywhere near 200,000 to 500,000 dollars. Puppy mills are also unnecessarily cruel. Dogs live in wire cages with little to no room, they hardly leave their cages if at all, not given proper nutrition or medical care, female dogs are killed if they can no longer give birth or die due to birth complications, along with a whole long list of other problems these innocent animals have to face. This is all caused by the human greed for money, humans don’t care if they’re hurting animals or killing the earth with pollution because as long as they have money everything will be alright, right? WRONG! We need to clean up our act because money shouldn’t have control of our lives, it’s pieces of paper that dictate so much over us.

    1. I believe that there should be much better conditions in places like dog mills. Those dogs deserve better treatment and health support(medically, nutritionally, etc.), and shouldn’t be used for breeding as much or as harshly, and especially shouldn’t be killed if they can’t give birth anymore because its not that important right now. People should stop hurting their pets, and you explain that very well.

      Delete
    2. Great paragraph Kat!, I think a solution to unfair animal treatment could be stricter laws on pets. The owner should have to have some sort of qualification to have the animal.

      Delete
    3. I believe a solution to animal abuse could be to educate the younger population on animal abuse. The younger generation is our future so better educating them on how to treat animals better or on how to report sightings of abused animals is one way to prevent this problem in the future. Great job Kat!

      Delete
    4. Some possible solutions are the creation of laws that limit the number of animals that an owner is allowed to care for, and required education for people who plan on caring for animals before they are allowed to. Nice job, Kat!

  19. My societal problem is assassination. Many presidents are assassinated. The reason could be that they aren’t favored. There were multiple presidents assassinated for example Abraham lincoln and Kennedy. Abraham was shot while he was at a theater watching a play then he was assassinated. He was the first american president to be assassinated. Assassination is a problem the needs to be fixed it is a terror to American presidents. This needs to be stopped, they are our president’s they shouldn’t be threatened.

    1. Your problem is definitely a hard one to fix. A solution could be, to slow manufacturing of weapons such as guns for assassination, but that can't very well work in the long run.

      Delete
    2. The only solution i can think of that makes sense are generic background checks on people who buy guns but everything else is virtually uncontrollable.

      Delete
    3. This is a hard problem to solve. A solution to this problem though, could be to really watch what the people around the president are doing. Whether or not these people can be trusted who are surrounding the high up people.

      Delete
    4. If there was more security protecting the president, there would be a lower chance of assassination. When more people are looking out for that sort of thing; the odds are that less people will want to try to harm a president when there are more people trying to stop them. We need strong, loyal defenders to keep the leader of our country safe.

  20. Guns are dangerous, I’m sure that you knew that. On the news you have probably heard about a shooting somewhere. Lots of people think that gun laws should be stricter in the US. I think that people should be able to own a gun if they want to, as long as they don’t have a mental disorder that will affect what they will do thith the gun. 90% of all stricter gun law supporters don’t want mentally ill people from buying a gun. In 1999 on 4/20 there was a school shooting in Colorado. In 2003 the concealed carry act was created, this allowed law abiding citizens to carry a concealed handgun. Thanks to that law in 2007 a volunteer security guard in a church saved lives when a gunman came in and opened fire, the gunman was shot by the guard.

    2. Great job Henry! I love the huge amount of solid facts you have! This is obviously a huge problem, and I agree with your solution. I also feel the U.S. could make a law that is based on people's past and their records to allow them to use a gun. Nice job.

    3. A possible solution to gun violence is to reinvent the common firearm. This could be done by using a different type of ammunition, such as charged shock rounds. These will not be strong enough to be considered lethal, but powerful enough to impair an attacker through self-protection.

      Delete
    4. There are certain types of mental disorders that are not dangerous as others. If we prohibited all mentally ill people from buying or owning firearms, then we are actually banning many mentally stable people. There are over 200 forms of mental illness that range from depression to schizophrenia. You shouldn't include all of them if only some of them are dangerous.

  21. Have you ever slept with on an empty stomach and you woke up hungry but you don’t have any food to eat? Probably not, so what I am trying to say is that people all around the world are dealing with this kind of problem which is known as world hunger. These people don’t get enough food to live on because their either poor or they are living in environments that are poor, and environments that are not good for growing food such as Africa and India. Half the world is living in poverty and they can’t afford enough food to live on, by half of the world I mean over like 3 billion people and that’s a lot of people. These people who are poor and live in poverty live on less than $2.50 a day which is not much money, think about or compare how much money you live on a day and it’s probably way more than $2.50. In conclusion this shows that the problem world hunger exists.

    1. Great paragraph Alex!, I think a solution is to have more wealthy people or companies help out in countries like africa, and just rural places in general.

    2. Alex I think that an economic solution to this would be to give people in countries where food is normally hard to grow genetically modified seeds to grow genetically modified food. This way they could have enough food and not be reliant on other countries constantly supplying them with food.

    3. A solution could be to send prepackaged food like canned foods to areas where people are hungry.

  22. Animal testing... People are constantly on the demand for everyday items like Lotion, Perfume, and Hair gel, But before these items are released to the public ,they are tested and the lab rats for these products are animals. We need to stop with our selfish ways, and let animals be free.Beauty products testing isn’t worth a creature's life so it's not worth it.Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year. 92% of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they are too dangerous or don't work.People go out of there way just to make some extra change. We don't realize the danger we are doing so please we need to stop this. It is dangerous for animals and the diversity in their population. This is wrong and yes someone can argue with me and try to say there's no problem with this. But that's not the truth.PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES WE ARE KILLING OUR PLANET AND THIS IS JUST ONE OUT OF MANY REASONS WHY WE NEED TO CHANGE AND FAST!!

    1. Knight. Great job. One solution that could be used is we could test these "beauty" products on other things besides animals. they could test these on artificial items. Another solution would be to make sure these products are safe before they are tested on animals.

      Delete
    2. We should do these tests on humans that have done horrible crimes. If their lives will waste away in prison why not get something useful out of them. It may seem cruel but they wouldn't be in prison if they didn't deserve it.

      Delete
    3. One way to stop animal testing is to instead of testing on animals, test on payed humans and volunteers. Also a licence should be required so you know they aren't being cruel t animals.

      Delete
    4. Great Job Knight, I totally agree, we need to stop testing dangerous chemicals on innocent animals. One way to solve this is to use animals or even humans who are about to be killed. Say an animal kills someone and is about to be put down; they can be used to test on since they are about to die anyways. Or if a human is about to be executed, they can agree to be tested on before they are executed.

      Delete
    5. Good job, Knight! Testing products on animals is a cruel thing to do and needs to be stopped. Some ways we could stop this is by testing them on volunteers or simply not trying to use new chemicals in products.

  23. My societal problem is hacking. Hacking is a serious issue all around the globe and I'm about to tell you why. Before I explain to you why, keep in mind some of the cyber-attacks that happened over the past years like the big Sony attack or the attacks on Yahoo, NY Times, and Microsoft. Our future depends on Technology and we cannot let it get into the wrong hands. Even now we depend on technology all the time as a calling device, online shopping, and work. If it gets into the wrong hands then everyone will be in danger. We already have white hat hackers which are people that set up networks and cyber defenses for a company, But it's not enough. If Jonathan James can hack into DTRA and steal their software code then who is to stop him. We need cyber police or a new form of tech that would be impossible to hack or override. Hacking is a problem, but it could possibly be our solution (like fighting fire with fire). This is something we need to deal with and fast.

    1. Solutions that might work best for hacking is to have more higher security. This in my opinion is the only really thing you can do to stop hacking. The only other option is to not have websites or things that can be hacked into.

      Delete
    2. We already have a lot of security such as Life Lock and other personal security and identity protectors and it is not protecting our information. People can still hack and get information and I believe they can sell it through the Black Market. The only solution would be to stop signing up on most websites so if hackers hack a website, they don't receive your personal information like your social security numbers.

      Delete
    3. One solution for hacking is to have separate passwords for all of your accounts. This way if one of your account is hacked, the rest of your accounts are still secure.

      Delete
    4. There is not much you can do to stop hacking but we can come up with a new software and use really complex passwords.

  24. Obesity is a serious situation that needs to be fixed. Many children and adults suffer from obesity almost everyday. Most kids with obesity get it from overeating or hiding with food. Since 2003, the growth of obesity grew rapidly. That reason is because fast food restaurants like mcdonalds serve some foods that don't have any nutrition in it. Obesity can harm the most important organs in your body. Like for an example, the heart, liver, and lungs. If we can't solve this situation, then more of our kids would suffer diseases that are from obesity like diabetes. Adults and children could possible or even die from this situation. We really need to change this problem for the better of our children and our environment.

    1. I think a solution to obesity would be informing people about healthy eating, how much to eat, and exercise. I think we should inform them about what might happen if they don't start exercising and eating healthier, but ultimately it is a personal decision that they have the choice to make.

      Delete
    2. One solution is enforcing healthy eating in school even more than it is already enforced. Another solution is more exercise being completed in schools. Great paragraph, Christal!

      Delete
    3. Obesity is a problem in our society today. We should create organizations to help people who already obese since they might now be able to control their habits. These organizations could help people maintain a better weight and become healthier.

    4. Good job Christal! I think a solution to obesity could go back to fast food restaurants and food companies. We could have a law of some sort to have them make healthier foods.

    ReplyDelete
  26. A solution that could help is to raise awareness to people in our generation about homophobic people so that less people will judge them for who they are, like how our school has a gay-straight alliance. This will result in less people being tormented and more acceptance to them as well.

  27. Love is love. Who cares who it is that you love, except you and the other person. I think the solution is to convince people that it is not their business, and these people are not dangerous, or hurtful.

  28. One solution that might help is if there are laws created against the discrimination of gay people. That way, people won't harm or discriminate anyone because the law forbids them to do so.

  29. Deforestation is the number three problem that is killing the planet and it has only gotten worse. It takes eight trees to create enough oxygen for one person and currently there are 3.04 trillion trees which may seen like a lot but knowing that that is only four-hundred trees per person that is quite alarming because we don’t only need trees for oxygen we also need them for fire, housing, and many other things. Another thing that proves to be a problem is how people are taking trees down like burning them to charcoal and in doing so could start forest fires, but what is more alarming is that humans have been doing this as early as when man first populated the earth without technology to stop it.
