  1. When Rome annexed Britannia (modern day Britain), they were relatively friendly. But when King Prasutagus of the Icenies died with no male heir, they were not so kind. Even though the King left half of the tribe to the Romans and the other half to his wife, Boudicca, and his daughters the Romans seized the other half and when Boudicca tried to stop them from rampaging through her castle, they took her into custody and publicly beat her and her daughters. They would learn to regret being so rash. Boudicca raised a massive army made of many of the tribes in Britain, and burned 3 major Roman settlements, one of them being Londinium which is modern day London. All of the cities had no walls! She also burned many Roman forts. A lesson that is quite plain to see is that overconfidence leads to death, as said by the more that 70,000 Romans that were killed, and the entire 9th Roman legion being wiped out.

    1. character could be a soldier on either side. or maybe a leader person. You don't really need a conflict this battle thing is one itself you don't really need more.

    2. Maybe tell your story as Boudicca and tell about the fort burning by her.

  3. The Salem Witch Trial took place in Massachusetts Bay between 1692 - 1693. It all started from rumors that two people Betty Parris and Abigail Williams were witches. People believed that they were witches because they were acting strange and were having random outbursts they were both hung at Gallows Hill. Tituba who was a slave of Betty Parris’s father Samuel Parris confessed to being a witch. On August 19 George Burroughs was accused of being the ring leader of all the witches and he was also hung. In 1957 the state of Massachusetts formally apologized for all the trials. A lesson I think they learned from this is don't assume people things.

  4. I am researching the holocaust and two details one is the first country that they invaded is Poland in 1939 this marked a very big problem because Hitler was seeking power and thrive by killing all the Jewish people and shows how ruthless a dictator can be. The second detail from my notes is that a big percentage of people like Edith frank Anne frank's mother died from starvation which is very bad because they have people working for hours with no food or water which is ruthless. I think a big takeaway from this tragedy is that dictatorship is terrible and can be terrible to the population and peoples family.

  5. The historical event I have researched so far is the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. In Kings last weeks he was tired and exhausted he had been in Memphis because he had promised that he would speak about the problem about the African American sanitation workers unfair pay and deliver one of his famous speeches the Mountaintop speech. While he was in Memphis he stayed at the Lorraine motel and on April 4th 1968 at around 6:05 pm King was shot by James Earl Ray across the street in a boarding house and later died at 7:05 pm. I think a lesson that can be learned from this historical event is that if you believe in social change you will have to sacrifice a lot.

  6. The Revolutionary War was a war fought between the British and the American colonists. The war took place from 1775-1783. The colonists came to North America because they wanted freedom and independence from the British, but the British didn't want the colonists to have their independent country. When the war ended the colonists had won their freedom but there were still a lot of problems that they hadn't thought about. A few main problems that the colonists had after the war was economy problems, and government problems. I think a lesson that can be learned from the Revolutionary War is to think about what happens after you do something and the consequences of that things.

There was also a coal fire that burned for 3 weeks before it was finally put out; it weakened the hull allowing the iceberg to break though. There were no binoculars and not enough lifeboats. The lesson of the sinking would be prepared for everything.

  8. World War 2. The worst event that has ever happened to humanity. Adolf Hitler rips families apart, tortures, and kills millions of innocent lives. It was a victory for the Allies (America, Russia, and Britain), but a bloody one. One of the bloodiest battles (literally), was D-Day. In military terms, D-Day just means "Day-Day" or the day that the event will take place. This D-Day is the most celebrated D-Day in history because it was a important step of liberating France from the Nazi Reich. 156,000 American troops fought in this bloody battle, along with British and Canadian forces. D-Day took place on five beaches in Normandy, France.
German 55' heavy machine guns layed down a rain of bullets as the Allies try to make there way out and off the beaches. The Germans had a 13-1 manpower ratio against the Allies, but the Allies kept on fighting. They did not stop, until they got off the beaches and started to push into France.
I think a lesson that D-Day / WW2 taught humans was that people should fight for whats right, and what they believe in. All of the soldiers died in World War 2, and all wars in general, died for a cause they believed it, and because they thought it was right, even if it was wrong. Simply put, that is the most impressive kind of bravery. I think more people should stand up and fight for whats right.

  9. On April 1st, 1933 was the beginning of the worst tragedy of modern history. The Holocaust. From 1933-1945, 17 million people, were killed. On that date, boycotting on Jewish Businesses began. Days later, they burned books related to non-Aryans and anti-Nazi. Categorization became the first step to destruction. After the Anschluss of Austria, the annexation against Czechoslovakia and Poland, and the beginning of wars against France And the Soviet Union, they started to kill jews, with machines and gas chambers, on fields outside cities, and in concentration camps. Millions of people became hurt instantly, and it wasn’t until the liberation of these camps that they realized what the Regime was doing. The lessons here is one, be brave in times in need because being in these camps made them worried to survive, and made them weak as much weak as you can, and always remember the past, because you’ll never know when the next Hitler comes.

  10. The shark attacks of 1916 was an event where five people were attacked, and one survived. Back in 1916 people thought they were on top of the food chain, they thought that sharks were stupid fish with big jaws but incapable of, or even would, fatally injuring a human. In 1891, one man, athlete and millionaire Herman Oelrichs, was so sure that sharks wouldn't attack people, he set a five hundred dollar prize, twelve thousand in today's money, to anyone who could prove him wrong. Oelrichs also held a party at his beachside home and jumped into the water with a shark to settle a two hundred and fifty dollar bet with his guests. The shark swam off, inevitably scared by the splash, and he won the bet. Oelrichs did the same stunt on his yacht and again, the shark swam away. By now, people had heard of him and were confirmed with the theory that sharks don't bite people. When the first attack got published into the newspaper people thought it was hogwash, or nonsense. Then the second attack came around five days later and some people, very few got slightly worried, many still thought this was fake. The lesson that the shark attacks of 1916 gave to us, was that we aren't better than the rest, were not on the highest place on the food chain. The shark attacks of 1916 taught humans, as well as invoking a strong fear, to be careful whether it's on land or in water.

  11. The Cold War started in the 40s which ended in the 80s. The two opposing sides were the United States vs the Soviet Union. The War had started after ww2 because of the surrender of Nazi Germany. The Name Cold War is when both sides fighting were scared to make a move because they are both very strong places. The Cold was not a local war it spread out across the world affecting different countries. The Cold war was one of the biggest wars excluding WWs. The Cold war costed more money than ww2 and ww1.Vietnam was one of America's best helpers because they allowed America to station their troops inside of vietnam. The Soviet Union was a partner with America in WW2 but turned on them during the CW. After America's success after defeating an old friend shows that don't try to turn on someone who you once cared about. The problems with the Cold War was payments because the war was so much money that the US almost went into an economic depression. WW2 influenced America's way of fighting because they played it more passive than they have in wars before WW2. Russia at the time had a communist government just like they did inside of WW2. The WW’s also helped the way of fighting because they started to use more effective weapons created between CW and WW2.

  12. The early solar system was chaos. It was full of asteroids and proto planets crashing into each other to gain as much mass as possible. Some asteroids and proto planets got kicked out of the solar system or exiled to the oort cloud. But earth survived and it went through all of the chaos and stabilized in the zone good for life. And earth survived in that spot going through an impact with something the size of mars and a bombardment of asteroids. Then life appeared as little stromatolites and persisted on this terrible planet, but the planet was in the right spot and they changed the planet to be better for it and life exploded. The planet was lucky and everyone is lucky for it to be lucky and the stromatolites were persistent and lucky not to be wiped out. 13. Choreomania or the ‘Dancing Plague’ has been recorded in European history from the 10th to 16th century. The most well-known outbreak happened in the summer of 1518, in a small French town called Strasbourg. The Strasbourg outbreak was started by Frau Troffea on July 14. She began dancing uncontrollably until night fell and she collapsed from exhaustion. The next morning, she was back up and dancing while a crowd watched. This continued for 4-6 days until the authorities of the town sent her to Saverne to get exorcised. But her dancing mania spread across the town. A week after she started dancing, around 30 people joined. By the end of the two-month epidemic, around 400 had danced themselves to death. At the time, people thought it was caused by St. Vitus cursing them for not giving proper offerings, and in the 18th and 19th centuries people thought it was caused by ergotism (a poisoning caused by a fungus called Claviceps purpurea, which affects the mind and causes involuntary movements.) But the most widely-accepted theory is that it was caused by mass psychogenic outbreaks because of the constant stress put on those affected. During the timeframe that the choreomania outbreaks were happening, stressors like the bubonic plague, famines, droughts, bad harvests, political problems, and syphilis were affecting the lives of the choreomaniacs. The unaffected portion of the population in the beginning harassed the dancers, calling them cursed and yelling for them to be killed on the spot so that the devils possessing them wouldn’t spread to the rest of the town. But many of the harassers ended up joining the dance, which shows that you shouldn’t judge people without giving them a chance first.

  14. On April 16, 7:15 am, Seung-Hui Cho shot two people in the dormitory hall, a female student and a male resident assistant. Cho fled the scene towards the Virginia post office, and he sent NBC news a package. Now it’s around 9:40 am, everything was more peaceful than Cho locked and chained seven main doors in Norris Hall, and he now had two guns on him: a 9-millimeter handgun, a 22-millimeter handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammo. He was going classroom to classroom shooting everything and everyone. Now let us stop for a moment, this might seem like he did this out of nowhere but it wasn’t, he wrote aggressive and violent assignments towards the teachers, but that's not all students called him a loner and said he never talked to anyone. Now it's been 10 minutes in this rampage and now it was the end, he shot himself in the head. Once NBS got the package of him with the handguns and a melee, then there was a video of him talking about how everyone was a wealthy “snob” or a “brat”. He talked about horrible things and now that we realize his plans, was he getting bullied? Were people cornering him? Like he said in the video, he was being cornered by everything. Soon after his death, they found out Cho struggled with Schizophrenia and a mood disorder. This was the Virginia Tech massacre 2007.

  15. The historical event I am researching is the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. John F. Kennedy set a goal in 1961 that we would put a man on the moon during the 1960s. Two astronauts, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were on the Apollo 11 lunar module as it was launched into space by the Saturn V rocket at 9:30 A.M. They start their journey to the moon after 1 ½ earth orbits. They land on the moon at 4:17 P.M. on the 20th of july. Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon around 11:00 P.M. that same day and said his famous phrase "that's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." After planting a U.S. flag and doing some simple scientific tests, the astronauts left the moon at 1:54 P.M. july 21st. The lesson to be learned from this is that you should do whatever it takes to reach your goals, even if it takes a long time.

In just a couple of hours over 400 american minutemen were killed in battle, and 1,054 british men were killed in battle. Both sides were ordered not to fire unless fired upon know one knew who shot first but it was the shot heard around the world. The battle of Saratoga was what convinced the french to join and help the Americans in the revolutionary war. The french thought that if the Americans could possibly win then they could too. It was the first battle the Americans actually won. The battle of Trenton was a battle the british won physically but the Americans considered it a win because it showed the british that the Americans wouldn't be so easily defeated. The battle of Yorktown was the last battle of the war. The french surrounded chesapeake bay that way the british could not flee to there boats while the americans were on land the surrounded them on both sides. It was a disease that swept the nation, and took the lives of many innocent victims. This was a time where the people who were infected or knew people who were infected had to act. These people had to learn to adapt to a situation and find a way around it to save their lives. They started to perform rituals to cleanse themselves, and began to quarantine. They all fought for their lives, and the lives of their loved ones. They took the bodies of the deceased and put them in trenches, and did everything they could to stop the deadly virus from spreading. They all tried their best to Stop the spread, and their efforts paid off with the slow, but still very joyous end of the outbreak of Yersinia Pestis. This is a lesson to the people of today to overcome and adapt to any abrupt and scary change that may come your way, and that no matter what there will always be light in your life.

    6. I think it should be a 10 year old boy that wants to leave but can not and gets very angry and depressed.

  20. A character could be a reporting kid or Himmler. A good conflict would be if the kid reporting is a good idea again.

  22. The character, if they're a Hitler Youth, could look like a young child, maybe with German descent. Some character traits to help with the feeling of childhood could be a missing tooth or gap in between teeth, or having them play with a toy. They could also have a childish way of speaking. These traits could help the reader know that the character is a kid.

  23. I think the POV should either be from a kid in Hitler Youth or a kid in a concentration camp.

  24. The Permian mass extinction affected large animals. The Coelurosauravus was a small tetrapod reptile that ate bugs. The species survived the mass extinction. Many large animals could not survive the toxic elements that were released when coal seams in the ground burned. But, the small Coelurosauravus made it through successfully.
